Sunday Fun Day Template Copy

Hello Stamping Friends,

Welcome to Sunday Fun Day with the Sisters in Stamping. Today we are sharing cards made using the templates in the Annual Catalog on page 22. If you have even been in a creative rut, you are going to love using these templates to get your creative juices flowing again. 

The template I selected is very easy to duplicate. It's even easier when you use some designer series paper and the ephemera packs. 

I stamped directly on the soft subtles designer series paper using Memento ink. I used stampin' blends to color the peony flower. I used the label ephemera pack and the greeting ephemera pack for the strips from the template. The greeting is attached using some dimensionals.

It truly was quick and easy and can literally be made in minutes. Now, if you want you can easily embellish this card with some gems or ribbon.

A Fractured Card is Better Than a Fractured Bone

Hello Stamping Friends,

Here today with a Sunday Funday Challenge with the Sisters in Stamping. This week we are making fractured cards. What is that? Well, a fractured card is better than a fractured bone for sure. 

It's a card that looks all broken up and put back together again like Humpty Dumpty. (LOL)  However, this card is way easier to make than I though it was going to be. Isn't that always a good thing. A card that looks hard to make, but in reality it is super easy.

Looks like a lot of pieces, don't you think? Well it's not. It's a base, a layer of DSP, the white square and four strips of cardstock. No major cutting. No weird angles. Pretty straightforward.  (Oh, there's some scrap white cardstock too for the skates)

I cut my white square to 2 1/4", stamped on it in the diamond shape. Placed that on top of the polka dot designer series paper and then took one 1/4" x 5" strip of cardstock and placed it at the top edge of diamond and let it hang off the paper. Then took another 1/4" strip and butted it up against the previous strip at the bottom of the diamond and let that hang off the paper. The third strip was the same thing starting along the bottom right side of the diamond. And the fourth strip was finished the same way.  Once all four of the strips were on, I cut off the excess following the edge of the paper. 

I stamped the skates on scrap paper, colored them with Stampin' Blends and finished them off with some wink of stella pen. I love the sparkle on them. For the disco ball, I wanted colored sections, so I squeezed my ink pads together to get some ink on the lid and then picked up the color with the wink of stella brush tip and "painted" each section. I love, love, love how sparkly it turned out. 

Definitely takes me back to the younger years of roller skating on Friday nights. What great fun and memories.

Some New Colors and Coordinating Designer Series Paper

Welcome to my blog and my creations. This post is all about using some new colors and some coordinating designer series paper. 

I love the lemonade set. It's so refreshing and you can make regular or pink lemonade. Actually, you can make it into whatever drink you find refreshing. I am all about the Lemon Lolly and Bubble gum colors on this card. I am actually decorating my classroom with a lemon theme that is exactly the colors in this card. I think it will be bright and cherry.

The little gems are the perfect finishing touch for the card. Well, those and the cute little lemons on the side of the pitcher.

Blending Together

Hello Stamping Friends, 

Have you tried the blending brushes yet? I mean, they are so soft you just want to rub them on your face, but I mean have you used ink and paper with them?

I used the paper you can get for FREE with a $50 order now (since it is Sale-a-bration) and made it a little more interesting. It is white with gold foil designs. So I used the blending brush to add a few colors to change it up a little. The foil acts as a resist so your gold design isn't ruined at all. Isn't that awesome. Imagine the possibilities.....

The wish you were here greeting made me think of my dog every time we leave the house. She sits on the back of the couch or chair looking out waiting for us to come home. So, I imagine her thoughts mimic the greeting.

I used So Saffron, Parakeet Party, and Tahitian Tide as my color scheme.

Need Some Masculine Cards

Sometimes you just need a card for the guys. This week with the Sisters in Stamping will help you find the inspiration to make more masculine cards. I often need cards for guys, but I have a hard time making them.  Well, the new designer series paper in the Annual catalog will help you make some quick, easy cards without even stamping. Crazy, right? It's true though. 

Look at that beauty. No stamping involved. And the really awesome part of this designer paper is that there are two sheets of die-cut images that you just need to pop out. So easy. No need for cutting images out. The car and the greeting on my card are from the die cut sheets. Awesome, right?

I'll be holding a class to make a bunch of these cards in August.  Watch for more information. You won't want to miss this class.

This week with the Sisters in Stamping we are sharing cards made with designer paper and specialty papers. Don't be afraid to use your paper. I know we can be hoarders at times because they are just so pretty, but use them and let others enjoy the beauty too. 

Lately, I have been letting my paper do all of the work leaving me little stamping. Basically, I just have to stamp a greeting because I cut images from the paper and use that instead of stamping.

Sisters in Stamping Sunday Fun Day

Thanks for joining me for another fantastic Sunday Fun Day with the Sisters in Stamping. This week's focus is on tools. Stampin' Up! has so many great tools to use while you are crafting and creating. What is your favorite tool?

I used the Stampin' trimmer to score my vellum layer to make a grid on it. I know it's not the easiest thing to see on the picture of the finished card, so I included another picture of just the vellum before it was attached to the designer series paper. (You'll see it below)

The vellum layer also mutes the designer paper a little bit. This card has a lot of layers and I absolutely love that. Again, like I have said many times before, Stampin' Up!'s designer series paper makes creating so easy. The colors are selected for you and work perfectly together, which makes the rest of the process so easy.

Here's the vellum before being attached to the base of the card. I scored every half inch on both sides to make the grid. One piece of advice is to not score too hard because you will cut through the vellum as it is not as thick as cardstock. Be careful. Trust me, I know these things. (wink, wink)

On the above picture you can see the grid with how much I zoomed in. On the finished card it is subtle, but it is a nice little touch to add another element of dimension.

And one final picture for you. A close up of the main focal point. I added one of the larger blue gems to the bottom of the flower and then I added five small gems to make a line going down the left hand side of the greeting strip. I must say; I love how this card turned out. I actually used one of the sample cards in the catalog for the In Symmetry stamp set for my inspiration. Check it out.

Fall Thank You - Sunday Fun Day

Hello Stamping Friends,

Hope you are enjoying this beautiful Sunday afternoon. It's definitely feeling like a fall day here in NEPA.  This week with Sisters in Stamping we are sharing with you some great fall thank you cards. The season doesn't matter; a thank you card is always needed.

I used a great set from the mini catalog. It is perfect for both the fall and winter seasons. It looks great with the multi-colored fall leaves falling to the ground. But, it would be just as great with some white snowflakes filling the background as well.

We need to remember to be thankful for every kindness shown to us. This card is perfect for just that. Besides, even though many people do things in kindness and are not expecting anything in return, a simple thank you goes a long way in making them feel appreciated.
