Two for One Healing Hugs

Hello Stamping Friends,

I'm here with a two for one post today. One post, two cards equals bonus for you. This set, Healing Hugs, will be leaving us in less than a week. I have a few more cards made with it that I just have to share with you. It's such a nice set. If you want it, you need to get it by May 3.

Both of the cards use the Healing Hugs stamp set and the In Good Taste designer series paper pack. I'm so glad that that one is sticking around for another year. It's just such a great pack of paper that can be used for so many different projects.

The above card the flowers are stamped in night of navy and balmy blue while the leaves are stamped in old olive. I love the little square vellum doily behind the flowers. It's such a soft thing and almost isn't noticeable, but it certainly adds a lot.

Then the greeting is stamped on white cardstock in balmy blue and made into a banner using the banners pick a punch.

This card is a monochromatic look using just night of navy. I think the added level of texture with the embossing folder from the greenery embossing folders really makes the card. If that layer wasn't embossed it would still look good, but it now looks great. (Well, that's my opinion anyway)

The flower was stamped in night of navy, as well as the greeting. The banner punch was used again on this card.

In reality this is a pretty quick and easy card to make. It's all about the layers. That's what I always say. If you think a card is missing something just try to add a layer and it may just be what you were looking for.

Thanks for stopping by. See you soon. Don't forget if you want the Healing Hugs stamp set you need to order it now. It will be gone very soon.

Crafty Challenge Blog Hop

Hello Stamping Friends,

This crafty challenge blog hop is focusing on a great card sketch. Sometimes, I find the layout the most difficult part of creating, so card sketches definitely take the hard work out of designing.

The sketch is great for so many different card occasions. Of course, you can easily change out the hearts and place something else there like I did. A sketch, for me, is a starting point and then you make it your own.

For the most part, I followed the sketch. I just added a layer behind my designer series paper layer to make it pop and then I switched out the hearts and used a flower.

So, what do you think? Did I follow it close enough? Would you look at the sketch and then my card and say, "Yep, they are pretty much the same."?

I also embossed the pool party layer of cardstock to give the card even more texture. The designer paper certainly gives the illusion of texture as well. I love the look of stamping a simple greeting multiple times. I used white craft ink to stamp the thank you three times. I mean, honestly, if someone does something extraordinary for you, won't you say thank you repeatedly? I  know I have.

I also used the rock 'n roll technique on the flower. I inked the stamp in pool party first and then I "rolled" the stamp on the night of navy pad just getting the outside portions. I also cut off some of the flower to make it a bit smaller to fit the design of the card better.

Don't forget to keep hopping by clicking the links below for more inspiration. Also, if you'd like to order any of the items I used or any other supplies, head over to my website to do that.

Thanks for stopping by. See you soon.

Sunday Fun Day Color Challenge

Hello Stamping Friends,

Welcome to another Sunday Fun Day with the Sisters in Stamping. Today we are doing a color challenge. I always enjoy being challenged using colors that are not my typical go to colors for creating. It definitely makes me reach outside my comfort zone.

The colors definitely look great together. I have to admit; I have never used these colors together, but I am pleased with the end result. Now I just may be even a bit sadder that Rococo Rose is retiring in just a few short days. How about you?

This is a fun fold card that I learned from a friend. She sent me a card that had shoes on it (Many know how much I love shoes.) and I fell in love with the card, the colors, and the fact that it had shoes on it. I'll have to share it with you later this week.

It has two flaps that open to reveal the center where you can write your message. I made my own designer paper for the one flap by stamping in the three challenge colors using three different stamps in the set.  I also stamped the two small strips of Rococo rose to look like designer paper. I have to say this isn't a typical stamp set or colors for me, but I had fun making it.

Here it is all opened and ready to write your sentiments. The single flower brings the inside a little more detail finishing it off nicely.

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more great ideas using this fun color combo.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you soon. As always, click the links below and it will take you to my website for you to be able to order any of these supplies or others you may want or need.
