All About the Strips

Hello Stamping Friends,

Glad your here and I hope to inspire you with today's card. This week the Sisters in Stamping are working with strips of cardstock of designer series paper on our cards. It's a great way to use up all those bits and pieces  you have laying around or if you have a lot of designer series paper on hand this is one way to get using it.

I used the Hey Chuck stamp set as the focal point of my card. Stampin' Blends were used to color the chicken (pool party, berry burst, and daffodil delight).

I cut the 6x6 designer series paper into a few 1/2" strips and one strip of berry burst shimmer paper too. I started in the upper left hand corner and just kept placing strips bumped up to the one next to it. Just alternate the colors however you would like.  I went down about 3/4 of the card and then I switched the way I was laying them down. They are leaning to the lower right of the card.

To add some dimension and interest to the chicken, I punched circles (2" and 2 3/8") in daffodil delight, coastal cabana, and berry burst shimmer.  I also added some shimmer to the chicken's body. Who doesn't love a little extra shine and sparkle?

For the inside of the card, I stamped the fence a few times. I purposely didn't even try to line it up because I wanted it to have a more rustic appeal. I outlined the fence using the daffodil delight Stampin' Blend.

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more inspiration using strips of cardstock or designer series paper. You are going to love what we have to share.

Thanks for stopping by. See you soon.

Stampers Dozen Garden Flowers Blog Hop

Hello Stamping Friends,

Tonight we have a blog hop with the Stampers Dozen group. This month's theme is garden flowers which is a perfect them for the summer when flowers abound all around.

I used the Irresistible Blooms bundle that is an online exclusive to make my project, Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper Pack, and the Bright & Beautiful Memories and More Card pack. I love when I have an idea in my head and then it actually works out with little to no deviation from what I initially had in mind. And that is just what happened with this frame.

I stamped the flowers and leaves directly on the designer paper which is why there are lighter and darker shades.

To put the flowers together, I die cut two of each stamped flower. I cut off the outer petals of one of the flowers so I could layer them together to add dimension to my flower. I also lightly crinkled each layer before putting them together.

You can see I also die cut some of the outline type leaves to add a different dimension to the frame.   You can alter any frame, but this particular frame is from IKEA.

Overall, I'm really pleased with my finished project. I hope it has inspired you. You can place your favorite picture or quote in the frame to really personalize it.
