Fathers Day Blog Hop

Hello Stamping Friends,

Father's Day is around the corner and today's blog hop will be perfect for you to get those creative juices flowing. Be sure to click the links below to keep hopping.

I didn't go with the traditional "Happy Fathers Day" sentiment on my card. I used a "Thinking of You" which would be perfect to send to a dad that doesn't live close by.

When you first look at this card, you may think it's just a regular card, but I promise you it is so much more than you think.  I used the Beauty of Friendship Bundle for this card. Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper is the bottom patterned paper that fold open.  I love the little rectangle for the saying, it's a perfect die-cut.

See! The patterned paper opens up on each side. It is attached between the last two layers. Isn't that so cool? I chose this particular paper for two reasons: the colors look like fallen leaves and then the back side looks like tree bark. Perfect, if I do say so myself. And the torn edge just adds another dimension and texture to the card.

There are three little birds on the tree and they can represent dad and two children or three children. Yep, I even thought about that. So, this is with both side open. And you may think that's it, but NOPE, I have more. Keep scrolling.

Look at this, the card opens even further so you can write a beautiful, sentimental message to dad and it will be hidden from others. I love how this turned out and hope you like it and find yourself inspired too.

The Man, The Myth, The Legend

Remember to Create!

Hello Stamping Friends,

Welcome to another awesome blog hop with the Stampers Dozen. We are ready to celebrate the man, the myth, the legend. You know, the dads in our lives. Next weekend is their special day and we are ready to share with you some great projects that you can recreate this week just in time to give it to the special dad in your life.

Nothing says dads day like a man relaxing in a chair with his hat tipped over his eyes while he takes a little siesta. This stamp is perfect and the sentiment tells the perfect story: it's your day, you can relax and enjoy it your way.

For this card, I made it in to a gift card holder. Notice in the picture above that there is a half circle cut out in the folded part. That's where you can tuck the gift card to dad's favorite restaurant, store, or recreational activity while he is reminded that he can relax his way.

Remember to keep hopping and be sure to make the man, the myth, the legend in your life that special card or project for Father's Day next week.

Thanks for stopping by. See you soon.

Let's Hear it For the Guys Blog Hop

 Hello Stamping Friends,

A month has already passed since the last Stamper's Dozen blog hop, I can hardly believe it. This month we are focusing on the guys in our lives. Whether it's Father's Day (coming up on Sunday), a graduate or even your favorite guy's birthday, you're sure to love this month's ideas.

You would think being that I have a husband, two sons, grandson, brother, and lots of brother-in-laws that I would be full of the guy ideas, but I must be honest with you, I AM NOT. I struggle with guy cards I think because I just like the frilly girly stuff so much. So when there is a guy challenge I embrace it, accept the challenge and am usually quite pleased with the end result.

This card was no different. There's no bling, no frills, not even a ton of layers (which I also really like) but I must say, I am quite pleased with the end result.  First I stamped the truck in basic black on watercolor paper, then I did a clear water wash around the truck to have the ink (from reinkers) "float" around the paper to make the sky and ground. Then I watercolored the truck using an aquapainter and reinkers. If you want you can easily change out the Happy Father's Day greeting and switch it to suit any need you may have. The greeting is stamped in whisper white craft ink on basic black cardstock.

To finish it off, I just used a basic black marker to add some darker detail to a few spots on the truck. Hope you are inspired. If you want to learn how to make this card or even watercolor contact me to schedule your own private class. I'd love to show you and your friends how easy it is.

Next up, we have Bonnie's great project. Click on the Next blog button below to go to her blog.

Hats Off to You!

Hello Stamping Friends,

It's Friday. Yippee! Any great plans for this weekend? We are doing a Purplestride walk tomorrow in memory of our dear friend Leo who passed away in September from pancreatic cancer. We miss him so much. He was such a great guy who was always the life of the party. He was a kind, compassionate, caring friend. Everyone loved Leo, young and old. Surprisingly, that's the only thing on the agenda. I'm looking forward to an otherwise relaxing weekend.

Well, being that it's Friday, that means time for a posting from the Sisters in Stamping. This week we are sharing Father's Day card ideas with you since Father's Day is next weekend and you will probably want to start working on your Father's Day cards this week.

I absolutely love how this card turned out. It is super quick and easy to make but looks so great when finished. I love hats and shoes so this card is definitely me. To create this card you just stamp the entire layer and it looks like printed paper when you are finished. Do a row of hats (it's actually 2 rows because the stamp has 6 hats on it, 2 rows of 3) and then a row of shoes. When stamping the shoes do one pair tips facing up and then alternate tips facing down. Adds a fun look instead of them all facing one way. Then stamp another row of hats. Skip a little space and stamp the second row of shoes at the bottom of the paper leaving a white space. The white space is covered by the designer paper and the greeting.

Can you guess which designer paper was used? I bet you would have never thought to use the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series paper for a masculine card. Well, that's exactly what I used. The back of many sheets is just black and white so they can easily be used on a masculine card. Perfect for everyone.

This card is great because it went right back to the basics: stamps, ink and paper. It's great to have all the fun accessories but sometimes you just want to keep it simple or you don't have enough time to pull out all your fun toys. This card allows you to see that you can create beautiful cards with minimal effort and supplies.

Get Ready For Father's Day

Hello Stamping Friends,

Today at Sisters in Stamping we are getting ready for Father's Day by sharing some great Father's Day cards with you. I used the new Tap Tap Tap set for my card. I just had to have it when I saw it in the new catalog. Reminds be of years gone by. I remember getting my electric typewriter with the correcting tape. I thought I had the coolest tool yet. Little did I know where that was headed way back then. Now we have computers and programs that highlight when we have a spelling error. We've come a long way, huh?

Anyway, back to the card. I thought it was pretty fun and neat to make a card for my dad that he could relate more to. I'm pretty positive he could work the typewrite much easier than he could work the computer. He has an iPhone but he still doesn't do a whole lot on it. I'm just so proud that he can text. lol

The teeny tiny wishes stamp set is perfect to fit in the lines of the paper stamp that comes with the set. Plus, the Happy Father's Day font is perfect for a typewriter look. Of course, you can change out the greeting and use the card for just about any occasion. I look forward to making more cards using this set.

Stamping Supplies Used:

Something for Dad

Hello Stamping Friends,

Welcome to another Fabulous Friday posting with the Sisters in Stamping. This week we are focusing on those very special men in our lives. The ones that are there for us from the beginning, our Dads.  They certainly deserve a special card for all the do and all they mean to us.

I know I love my dad so much. He's fun-loving, always the joker but always there to protect me and be there for me when I need him. And he's even more special to me since I lost my mom so many years ago. He stepped right up to the plate and became both mom and dad for me when he needed to. He even helped me plan and make things for my wedding. He took the boys overnight for us many times (even when they were babies still in diapers).

He's an awesome PaPa, too. My boys just love him to pieces. I mean really, how many other Papa's are out there that hang out with the 16 year olds at a birthday party and playing tic tac toe on the kitchen floor with chalk?????? (All his idea and the kids either) I certainly don't know of any others. Yes, my Dad recently did just that at Noah's 16th Birthday Party. Noah and his friends didn't mind one bit that the "old man" was hanging with them. They had a blast and laughed and laughed. That's my Dad.

And you know what is even more special, my boys have a great relationship with their dad (my husband). He plays with them, jokes with them and just knows how to have fun. So much so that I often say I have three boys.  I'm so blessed to have both of these men in my life and thank God for each of them everyday.

My card today was pretty easy to make. It's simple but it doesn't need to say much more than it already does. I made the tie from my own little template that I created.  I knew I wanted to make this card but I didn't have a tie pattern and didn't know what to do. I was at school one day and there was a little wooden triangle the kids were playing with and then bam, I was hit in the head with this brilliant idea to use that triangle for the top of the tie and then for the bottom of the tie as well. All I needed to do once I traced the triangle into both places was draw a diagonal line to connect each triangle on the two sides.  Pretty clever, huh?

Getting Ready for Father's Day

Hello Stamping Friends,

I know I have been a little absent this week. Hope you can forgive me, I've been subbing at the school all week.  And all the end of the year school activities after school. It's been so hectic at night that I haven't had much time to get anything else done outside of getting ready for the classes I had this week. And even that was squeezing it in.

It's Fabulous Friday and you know what that means. It means some stamping inspiration not only from me but also from my friends at Sisters In Stamping.  We decided to get a little head start on Father's Day this year and share some ideas with you early so you have plenty of time to recreate them.

This card was made quite awhile ago. Actually I think it was a card that I made for a stamp a stash last year but again, no time to make a new one and I went back and saw that I didn't actually share it here on the blog so it's new that way. {grin} It uses the Best Dad Ever stamp set.  I love the ties (it screams Father's Day to me, although there are a few other greetings in the set)

I wanted the ties to be all different colors so I used Stampin' Write Markers.  After it was stamped the focal point piece of cardstock still needed something more so I added some doodling around the edges to bring it all together.  I finished the ties off with silver brads because all good ties have a tie clip.  And of course, (and this should go without saying by now) the focal point is on the base using dimensionals.

Okay, gotta run and get ready for school.  TGIF!!!!!  Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more Father's Day stamping inspiration.

Stamping Supplies:
Cardstock: Naturals Whtie, Night of Navy
Ink: Old Olive
Other Accessories: Stampin' Write Markers (Garden Green, Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Old Olive, & Night of Navy), 1/16" hole punch, silver brads, dimensionals

Fab Friday, already?

What a short week this is. I'm a day behind in my thinking. I couldn't believe it was Friday already.  Not that I'm complaining that the weekend is here again. I'm thrilled that it is. Besides, it's one day closer to the end of the school year and a much needed break for all of us.

This week at Sisters in Stamping our challenge was a Masculine/Father's Day card. I'm sharing with you a card that I have showed at several workshops this past month.  I think it turned out great.  To be honest, much better than I had in my mind originally. Does that ever happen to you?  Anyway onto to what you really stop by here for, the stamped card.

This card is full of texture and elements. I made it a Father's Day card because in a few short weeks we will all need at least one of these cards.

Here is a list of what is used on this card:
Sentimental Journey Stamp Set
Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set
Close to Cocoa Cardstock and Classic Ink
Taken with Teal Cardstock and Classic Ink
More Mustard Cardstock and Classic Ink
Whisper White Cardstock
Presto Patterns Designer Series Paper
Word Window Punch

What do you think of the card? Do you like it? Don't forget to check out the Sisters In Stamping Blog for more masculine card ideas. Next week the theme will be June brides. Be sure to come back.
Also the Last Chance lists are here. Be sure to check them out to see what you NEED to get before it's gone for good. Many of the accessories are flying off the shelves so don't delay and order today.

Have a wonderful weekend.
