Wonders of Watercolor Paper

Hello Stamping Friends,

Welcome to another great Sunday Fun Day with the Sisters in Stamping. This week we are sharing watercolor paper projects with you. When was the last time you made a card using watercolor paper? That long? Well, it's time to get it out and use it to make a great card.

I made my card using a clear block to make my background. I took three different blue Stampin' Write markers: coastal cabana, pool party, and bermuda bay, and scribbled on the clear block (1/3 of the block for each color). Then I spritzed it with water and stamped it onto a piece of watercolor paper that was also spritzed with water.  I love how the three colors blend together.

I wanted the blues to give the impression of water. You will need to have the paper completely dry before stamping the images and greeting on the watercolor paper or else they will bleed since our inks are water-based.  (Don't ask me how I know this, wink, wink!)

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more ideas using watercolor paper.

Let's Hear it For the Guys Blog Hop

 Hello Stamping Friends,

A month has already passed since the last Stamper's Dozen blog hop, I can hardly believe it. This month we are focusing on the guys in our lives. Whether it's Father's Day (coming up on Sunday), a graduate or even your favorite guy's birthday, you're sure to love this month's ideas.

You would think being that I have a husband, two sons, grandson, brother, and lots of brother-in-laws that I would be full of the guy ideas, but I must be honest with you, I AM NOT. I struggle with guy cards I think because I just like the frilly girly stuff so much. So when there is a guy challenge I embrace it, accept the challenge and am usually quite pleased with the end result.

This card was no different. There's no bling, no frills, not even a ton of layers (which I also really like) but I must say, I am quite pleased with the end result.  First I stamped the truck in basic black on watercolor paper, then I did a clear water wash around the truck to have the ink (from reinkers) "float" around the paper to make the sky and ground. Then I watercolored the truck using an aquapainter and reinkers. If you want you can easily change out the Happy Father's Day greeting and switch it to suit any need you may have. The greeting is stamped in whisper white craft ink on basic black cardstock.

To finish it off, I just used a basic black marker to add some darker detail to a few spots on the truck. Hope you are inspired. If you want to learn how to make this card or even watercolor contact me to schedule your own private class. I'd love to show you and your friends how easy it is.

Next up, we have Bonnie's great project. Click on the Next blog button below to go to her blog.

Enjoy the Day

Hello Stamping Friends,

What a beautiful day it is. Sun is shining, a cool breeze is rustling the leaves on the trees, so go out and enjoy this gorgeous day. Jonah and I are headed to Great Adventure with one of my demonstrator friends today. Yes, I would not have known Dawn if it wasn't for Stampin' Up! I love all the friendships I have formed with people across the country all because of stamps. It's amazing what a couple of stamps can do for you. Call me to chat anytime you have questions about doing what I'm doing. You won't regret it. It's been a fabulous 13 years for me as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.

Are you ready for this week's Sister in Stamping challenge?  This week we did a color challenge that Karla found. Let me preface it with saying we substituted Summer Starfruit with Hello Honey because Summer Starfruit is no longer available. Why don't you play along with us and use the colors to create your work of art. The color challenge is shown below.

The moment you have been waiting for. My card. (lol, as if it was that big of a deal) I decided to do something I rarely do,play with my aqua painters and do a color wash using three of the colors and stamping in the darkest color (Early Espresso).

I have to say, I really like the look of this completed card. It is a clean, quick, and simple card to recreate many of. This card is great for a sympathy card, masculine card, or just a simple, I'm thinking of you card. It really can cover a lot of ground.

I started by squeezing the each of the pad lids onto the pads while closed. This got some ink in the lid for me to use to do the color wash. I then began at the bottom of the watercolor paper with the Hello Honey ink, moved onto the Tempting Turquoise and finished with the Island Indigo. I set it aside to let it dry before stamping the tree line from Lovely As a Tree over the top of the wash with Early Espresso ink.

Then I stamped the Thinking of You from For You in Island Indigo onto whisper white cardstock that was cut to layer on top of the whisper white card base. The focal point is layered onto Early Espress cardstock and attached to the card using dimensionals (my favorite). See it really is that easy.

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping to see more ideas using this fun color challenge. Share your creations using this color challenge in the comments.

Hello?

Hello Stamping Friends,

Hope you had a great weekend.  All I need to know is, why in the world does the time go so quickly on the weekend but during the week, it often drags on?  If you can find the answer to this profound questions, please let me in on the secret.

Today's card is one made with a Sale-a-bration set that I just NEEDED to have. I absolutely feel in love with the phone booth, ferris wheel, and old fashioned bike (I know it has a name, I just don't know it, lol)  I know many of today's youth will have no idea what the phone booth is and I think that is such a shame.  Technology put these guys out of business.

I couldn't wait to make a fun red phone booth card.  And now here it is. What do you think? I even colored it in and those of you who know me pretty well, know just how I feel about coloring. I dislike it and I'm not afraid to admit it. I'd much rather cut out (yes, with scissors, not big shot and dies) 100 flowers than color 100 flowers.

I love the feel the newsprint paper gives this cards. Definitely screams nostalgia to me.  And what better to pair the phone booth with but the little hello stamp from the Pretty Petites sale-a-bration set.  I stamped the hello and then punched it out with the 1/2" circle punch.  Gives it a totally different look, right?  I think that's one of the most awesome things about using punches.
