Dynamic Duos - Using Just Two Colors BLog Hop

Hello Stamping friends,

Welcome to another blog hop with the Stampers Dozen. Today iur challenge is using just two colors. Not as easy as it sounds sometimes. Hope you are inspired.

I went with an old favorite, Artistic  Impressions. I love that this set is still with us. I use it often.

I used parakeet party and sweetbsorbet for my two colors. I wanted the smaller flower lighter so I  just stamped on scratch paper first before stamping on the card.

I cut the white layer in half diagonally and stamped the images on the bottom half. The top half I  stamped the hello full strength  and then again without reinking.

Once I  finished stamping I  embossed the remaining stark white part with the dots folder that is an online exclusive. It finishes off the card wonderfully.  I also cut some tiny strips of paper in the two colors to hid the hard edge of the embossing folder.

I even stamped the inside of the card to make it pretty. Why should the outside be the only thing that is pretty?

Sunday Fun Day with Sisters in Stamping

Hello Stamping Friends,

Welcome to another Sunday Fun Day with the Sisters in Stamping. This week we are sharing cards that we all need, but don't enjoy having to use: Sympathy cards. Have you ever been caught without one when you needed one?  We're here to help inspire you to make a few cards and have them on-hand when you need them most.

I used the daisy designer series paper as my starting point. Well, I picked the greeting first and then went to get the paper, but anyway....

I looked at the colors used in the paper pack and chose my colors from that. I wanted to bring out the crushed curry centers, but didn't want it to be bold and solid, so I picked the background stamp in order to still have more white showing.

I felt the finished card needed just a little something extra and settled on using the wink of stella brush on the daisy petals. That little extra shimmer and shine is the perfect touch. Not too much. Now it looks like it could have been a specialty designer series paper pack that has glitter or metallic details.

I must admit, I tend to lean towards daisies a lot because they were my mom's favorite flower. I even planted daisies in my yard so I can enjoy them and think of her every summer.

Remember to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more sympathy card ideas.

Thanks for stopping by. See you soon.

What Can You Do with the Ladybug Punch?

Have you ever looked at a punch and said, "Wait a minute! I can make _____ from that too?"  So many times you can make more than one thing from a punch. It's all how you look at it, what you can add to it, or what you can cut off of it.

Well, take the ladybug punch for example. Obviously, it's a ladybug, but look it can also be cute little bumblebee by cutting thin strips of yellow cardstock and punching the wings from vellum.

This card is even more fun because it has an extra little surprise with a fun-fold.

And you wouldn't even know it by looking at the closed card.

It starts with a basic card base. But then I added a 8" x 10 1/2" piece of white cardstock that is scored in half and attached to the inside of the base so the white opens on the left instead of the right like a regular card.

This allows you to have more room on the inside to write a message and it also hides the writing so it doesn't show through the punched circle.

Isn't that the easiest fun fold card ever?

Some New Colors and Coordinating Designer Series Paper

Hello Stamping Friends,

Welcome to my blog and my creations. This post is all about using some new colors and some coordinating designer series paper.

I love the lemonade set. It's so refreshing and you can make regular or pink lemonade. Actually, you can make it into whatever drink you find refreshing. I am all about the Lemon Lolly and Bubble gum colors on this card. I am actually decorating my classroom with a lemon theme that is exactly the colors in this card. I think it will be bright and cherry.

The little gems are the perfect finishing touch for the card. Well, those and the cute little lemons on the side of the pitcher.

All About the Strips

Hello Stamping Friends,

Glad your here and I hope to inspire you with today's card. This week the Sisters in Stamping are working with strips of cardstock of designer series paper on our cards. It's a great way to use up all those bits and pieces  you have laying around or if you have a lot of designer series paper on hand this is one way to get using it.

I used the Hey Chuck stamp set as the focal point of my card. Stampin' Blends were used to color the chicken (pool party, berry burst, and daffodil delight).

I cut the 6x6 designer series paper into a few 1/2" strips and one strip of berry burst shimmer paper too. I started in the upper left hand corner and just kept placing strips bumped up to the one next to it. Just alternate the colors however you would like.  I went down about 3/4 of the card and then I switched the way I was laying them down. They are leaning to the lower right of the card.

To add some dimension and interest to the chicken, I punched circles (2" and 2 3/8") in daffodil delight, coastal cabana, and berry burst shimmer.  I also added some shimmer to the chicken's body. Who doesn't love a little extra shine and sparkle?

For the inside of the card, I stamped the fence a few times. I purposely didn't even try to line it up because I wanted it to have a more rustic appeal. I outlined the fence using the daffodil delight Stampin' Blend.

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more inspiration using strips of cardstock or designer series paper. You are going to love what we have to share.

Stampers Dozen Garden Flowers Blog Hop

Hello Stamping Friends,

Tonight we have a blog hop with the Stampers Dozen group. This month's theme is garden flowers which is a perfect them for the summer when flowers abound all around.

I used the Irresistible Blooms bundle that is an online exclusive to make my project, Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper Pack, and the Bright & Beautiful Memories and More Card pack. I love when I have an idea in my head and then it actually works out with little to no deviation from what I initially had in mind. And that is just what happened with this frame.

I stamped the flowers and leaves directly on the designer paper which is why there are lighter and darker shades.

To put the flowers together, I die cut two of each stamped flower. I cut off the outer petals of one of the flowers so I could layer them together to add dimension to my flower. I also lightly crinkled each layer before putting them together.

You can see I also die cut some of the outline type leaves to add a different dimension to the frame.   You can alter any frame, but this particular frame is from IKEA.

Overall, I'm really pleased with my finished project. I hope it has inspired you. You can place your favorite picture or quote in the frame to really personalize it.

Not the Usual Red, White, and Blue

Hello Stampin' Friends,

Another post from the Sisters in Stamping. This week we are sharing some red, white, and blue cards, but they are not used in the usual fashion. Most often, we see red, white, and blue and think patriotic items. Well, we're here to show you that you can use it in other ways.

I used the Hey Chuck stamp set to make this card. Those chickens are the cutest.  They are so fun, quirky, and a bit sassy.

This little guy is showing you how cool he is. Swim trunks, skateboard, what else does he need? I used the Basic 3D Embossing folders that are an online exclusive for the background. At first, I picked the dotted background because it make me think of "chicken" skin and then I realized it worked also with the swim trunks. So you decide.

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping to see a little more of the red, white, and blue in an unusual way.

ALSO, BIG news, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, for ONE DAY ONLY, Stampin' Up! is offering FREE SHIPPING on all orders over $75. I can place your order for you, or if you'd like you can just head over to  my website: www.rachelyurkanin.stampinup.net
