Crafty Challenge Blog Hop

Hello Stamping Friends,

Thanks for joining me for another great blog hop. This one is a color inspiration. I love challenges with colors that I often don't use in my creations. This challenge did just that. I really only use one of the colors and it is usually used with other bright colors. This combination really challenged me. I hope you like what I can come up. 

The only color I use on a regular basis is bermuda bay. So combining the other two colors had me thinking on my toes. In the end, I think I like it. (LOL)  I opened the stamp cabinet and looked at all my stamps to see which one was going to be the lucky one to see daylight today. The Birds and Branches set was the one that jumped out at me and said that I needed to use it. 

I decided the birds were going to be bermuda bay, the nest and branches were going to be cajun craze (because I saw it as a brownish color) and the merry merlot was going to be some corner flowers and the greeting. 

In order to get some variations in color, I simply stamped off on scrap paper to get a lighter shade of the cajun craze and the bermuda bay. If you only have a few colors, this is a perfect way to get more colors quickly. 

The birds and flowers were stamped on scrap paper and then cut out. Of course they were attached to the card with dimensionals. To finish it off, I used the blue adhesive backed gems for the center of the flower and the birds eyes. Although, I didn't want to leave them blue for the eyes, so I got out the Cajun Craze Stampin' Blend to color the eyes.

Sale-a-bration Sunday Fun Day

Hello Stamping Friends,

It's been a bit since I posted and I apologize. August simply got away from me. We went on vacation in the beginning of the month and the rest is just a blur.  Glad to be back and stamping with you. I missed creating the past few weeks.

This week for Sunday Fun Day with the Sisters in Stamping we are sharing projects made with Sale-a-bration products. Don't forget it is Sale-a-bration time and that means free things for you whether you order, host, or join the family.

I used the Penguin Playmates designer series paper for the starting point of my card. I love this paper (and it's a SAB freebie). I used five different patterns from the pack and the penguin comes from the paper too. I stamped the balloon from the penguin place stamp set and then used my favorite biggest wishes greeting set. 

To make life a little easier on myself. I attached the 1" x 3 3/4" strips of paper on a piece of basic white cardstock. Then attached the entire white cardstock to the base of the card. Plus attaching to the white helps keeping them straight and even.

Sale-a-bration Blog Hop - Crafty Collaborations

For my card, I started with a regular size card base, but then I folded the front flap back to the fold in the middle of the card to switch it up a bit. I layered cardstock and the Penguin Playmates designer paper on both the folded flap as well as the inside of the card.

I then used the sketched looking square in the Textures and Frames set you can earn for FREE with a qualifying order during Sale-a-bration to frame the hello greeting from the Biggest Wishes stamp set. In reality, it is quite a simple card, but sometimes we need those as crafters. We need to be able to make multiples or we may just need to be quick because we don't have time. This card allows us to be creative and crafty with minimal time required.

I definitely think you need the basic white cardstock in the card to write your message on. I have been adding white cardstock to the inside of most of my cards because it is just easier to write on and certainly easier for the recipient to read. Plus, I think it just look more finished that way.

Scraps and More Scraps

Hello Stamping Friends,

Hope you are enjoying the summer weather and getting outside as much as possible. This week with the Sisters in Stamping we are sharing with you projects made with scraps. I think it's safe to save we all have a lot of little pieces of cardstock and designer series paper around.

Well, now you will have some ideas to create using those scraps up. I know I have a ton of small pieces for the ice cream designer paper. I hope you aren't sick of seeing cards with it. It is my absolute favorite paper in the January - June Mini Catalog. It will be gone soon, so hurry and get it before it's gone.

This is a little different than past cards I've made because it has a softer look than the bold colors I have been using to make cards. The Biggest Wish set is so awesome for the front of cards. Nice, big greetings that you can mix and match the fonts to give it different looks.

Don't forget to use those scraps up. Don't throw them away. They can be used to make beautiful cards.  Remember to check out the Sisters in Stamping blog for more ideas to use those scraps.
