Simply Elegant

Hello Stamping Friends,

Am I on the ball or what?  Five postings in a row. Let's hope I can keep this up, for your sake's anyway.  Hope you have been enjoying all of these posts. I am thankful for the long holiday weekend that allowed me some extra time to get them all set up for you. Let's see if I can keep this trend up.

Here's another card that was made at April's stamp a stash class.  It's so simple but so elegant all at the same time.  I love how it turned out. I just used a thinking of you greeting on it but it would make a beautiful sympathy or wedding card as well.  Really it can be used for anything, right?

I used the Awash with Flowers stamp set (only 3 more days to order your set) for the main focal point of the card.  Such a pretty set and I will miss it when it's gone, but I'm excited about the new catalog. Just wait till you see it (f you haven't already).

Stampin' Supplies Used:
Stamps: Awash With Flowers and Teeny Tiny Wishes (my go to greeting set)
Ink: Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi and Basic Black
Cardstock: Whisper White
Accessories: Big Shot, Elegant Lines Embossing folder, dimensionals, 5/8" organza ribbon, and snail adhesive

Thanks for stopping by again, please come back real soon.

One Last Turtle & Co. Project

Hello Stamping Friends,

I'm back again to share one last Turtle & Co. Project with all of you.  This one is a card holder for the four different Turtle & Co. cards that I shared with you last month.  The cool thing about this card holder is that is made from one sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock and fits about 6 cards nicely so it's a great little box to make and use as a gift.

The Turtle & Co. stamp set is this year's Ronald McDonald House charities set. $2.00 from the purchase of each and every set goes directly to this awesome charity that helps families out when they have sick children in the hospital.  Thursday will be the final day to order this set before it is gone forever, so if you want your own, you will need to let me know by then.

I really love the wiggle eyes on the little creatures in this set.  They add such a fun element to the finished project. I also like how the letters area bit skewed to make it even more fun.

Here's a side view so you can see the depth of the box, not to big, right?  Easy enough to make a few cards to give as a gift, just like I told you.

Stamping Supplies Used:
Stamps: Turtle & Co, Just Perfect Alphabet (both retiring)
Ink: Basic Black
Cardstock: Real Red, Basic Black, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise
Accessories: 1/4" Real Red Grosgrain, Postage Stamp Punch, 1" square punch, glue dots (for wiggle eyes), sticky strip, snail adhesive, Stampin' Write Markers: Real Red, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise.

Hope you have enjoyed this post and it has inspired you to create.  Come back tomorrow to find out about my Memorial Day Sale.

Don't forget 1 Week Left before They're Gone

Hello Stamping friends,

Glad to be back posting for you again.  I know it's been a whole week since I last posted and for that I am sorry.  Long story short, I'm subbing for a kindergarten class until the end of the year and this week just got away from me.  I love being at the school and teaching but I need to readjust things here at home since I'm not home as much and that's taking some time. I'm hoping not to be so long in between again, and in order to do that, I'm going to set up a few posts at a time (when I have a few spare moments) so you won't miss out.

This week at Sisters in Stamping we are sharing some last minute projects that use retiring stamps and accessories so be sure to check out what the other sisters have made.
Don't forget this is the FINAL week with the 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog, and that means that those stamps and accessories that are on the retiring lists will be gone forever come next Friday (June 1st). If there is anything you want that is on those lists please contact me soon to get those ordered for you or you can just head over to my website and order it for yourself that way, whichever is easier for you.

For my card this week I used the Have a Seat stamp set.  I love this set and will be so sad when it's gone. I don't know what it is about it either.  It's just fun.  Maybe it's that the chairs speak to me about visiting and friendship.  Anyway back to the card, I also used a few of the retiring in-colors, cardstock, ink and ribbons to make this card.  When I was finished creating this one, I loved how it looked. It's kind of funky looking, isn't it?

Stamping Supplies Used:
Stamps: Have a Seat
Ink: Poppy Parade, Concord Crush, and Peach Parfait
Cardstock: Whisper White, Poppy Parade, Concord Crush & Peach Parfait
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice Embossign Folder, 1/2" Stitched Poly Ribbon (Concord Crush & Peach Parfait), Dimensionald & Snail Adhesive

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more cards using retiring stamps and accessories.

Getting Ready for Father's Day

Hello Stamping Friends,

I know I have been a little absent this week. Hope you can forgive me, I've been subbing at the school all week.  And all the end of the year school activities after school. It's been so hectic at night that I haven't had much time to get anything else done outside of getting ready for the classes I had this week. And even that was squeezing it in.

It's Fabulous Friday and you know what that means. It means some stamping inspiration not only from me but also from my friends at Sisters In Stamping.  We decided to get a little head start on Father's Day this year and share some ideas with you early so you have plenty of time to recreate them.

This card was made quite awhile ago. Actually I think it was a card that I made for a stamp a stash last year but again, no time to make a new one and I went back and saw that I didn't actually share it here on the blog so it's new that way. {grin} It uses the Best Dad Ever stamp set.  I love the ties (it screams Father's Day to me, although there are a few other greetings in the set)

I wanted the ties to be all different colors so I used Stampin' Write Markers.  After it was stamped the focal point piece of cardstock still needed something more so I added some doodling around the edges to bring it all together.  I finished the ties off with silver brads because all good ties have a tie clip.  And of course, (and this should go without saying by now) the focal point is on the base using dimensionals.

Okay, gotta run and get ready for school.  TGIF!!!!!  Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more Father's Day stamping inspiration.

Stamping Supplies:
Cardstock: Naturals Whtie, Night of Navy
Ink: Old Olive
Other Accessories: Stampin' Write Markers (Garden Green, Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Old Olive, & Night of Navy), 1/16" hole punch, silver brads, dimensionals

Happy Mother's Day to All Moms

Just a quick post today to wish all you Moms out there a very Happy Mother's Day.  Yes, I know it's late but I still wanted to say it. I also wanted to share with you a few pictures of some of my favorite people and of course if you bear with me there is some stamping inspiration at the end.

This first picture is our Mother's Day picture that was in our local newspaper today. It's a long standing tradition in our area and I have had one in there on Mother's Day since Noah was born.  Well, actually since his first birthday because he was born only a few weeks before Mother's Day that year so it was too late to submit a photo. Anyway, here it is for the rest of you to see as well.  I love this picture. Looks like a cover for an album, doesn't it.  We'll need to come up with a group name. haha   My sister in law, Danielle, did our pictures and I love them.  Thank you so much Danielle.  If you need great pictures and you're local check out Oaktree Photography. (No they are not paying me or twisting my arm to say that) I love picking out outfits that all coordinate together for our pictures, every year is a different color theme.  I love the coral that was selected for this year's photo shoot.  The pictures were taken outside at a local park.

This picture is of my Mom, Rose taken just weeks before she unexpectedly passed away.  I miss her so much. She left this earth way too early at the ripe young age of 40 years old. Just wanted to wish her a Happy Mother's Day in heaven. I know I will see her again someday and I look forward to it. She missed so many things in my life and my sister's life (since we were only 20 and 17 at the time) but we are confident that she knows we are okay and we know that she is proud of the women we have become. We just wish she was able to be here and share it all with us, especially her grandsons.  We know she would have LOVED them so much. Children were her life. She was a Child Day Care Provider for many years and a Foster Mom to many, many children.  She's the reason we have Brittney as our daughter today.  Brittney came into our family as a foster child. We loved her so much that when she went home we arranged privately with her Mom to still have contact. When Brittney was 7 years old, Don and I became her legal guardians and the rest is history. She is our daughter. I'm sure Mom is looking down smiling.

And now a little stamping inspiration.  This card was made for my demonstrator swap this month.  I used whisper white for the base and then I embossed polka dots with the big shot on the next layer of white cardstock.  The flower is made using the circle die (the one with multiple circles ) and the big shot and the flirtatious designer fabric. There are 4 layers of circles to make the flower. I then used the 2011-2013 In Color Brads to hold all the circles together.  See the leaves poking out?  That's the blossom punch from the Occasions Mini (and yes, the punch is still available if you missed out on getting it).

SUPPLIES USES:
Stamp sets: Delightful Dozen
Ink: Basic Grey
Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Twitterpated Designer Series Paper
Other: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, circles die, 2011-2013 In Color Brads, Flirtatious Designer Fabric, Snail Adhesive, Blossom punch, Crop a dile (which btw, you will want to get before it's gone)

My Digital Studio Fabulous Friday

May is National Scrapbooking month and this week at Sisters in Stamping, we are featuring My Digital Studio scrapbook layouts for Fabulous Friday. My Digital Studio (MDS) is an easy-to-use design software featuring thousands of Stampin’ Up!’s award-winning images, colors, and accessories. Compatible with both, PC and Mac operating systems.  My Digital Studio allows designers of all skill levels to create their own digital projects or use hundreds of templates to make professionally designed cards, photo albums, scrapbooks, and more. There is even an entire site dedicated to MDS with tips, tricks, techniques, the latest downloads available and galleries of projects submitted by both Demonstrators and MDS users - be sure and visit the MyDigitalStudio.Net site! And if you're curious about MDS and want to try it FREE for 30 days, contact me and I can tell you more about it.

So onto my project for this week.  I created this 12 x 12 digital scrapbook page to showcase some of the fun, creative times Jonah had at the Crayola Factory Experience in Easton, PA this week for his second grade field trip.  There are so many fun things to do at Crayola.  It's an all hands-on day of activities while visiting Crayola. You get to cut, glue, color, paint, draw on glass with markers, draw on and inside sidewalk with chalk, make a fun piece of art using melted crayons and so much more.

The whole class needed to wear green shirts so we went and bought a plain t-shirt and Jonah wanted to decorate it just for this special day.  Notice his shirts has crayons on it. He designed it and completed the shirt all by himself.  I'm so proud of the little guy. He did a wonderful job.

To create this page using MDS, I started with a Create Your Own page.  There are pages already designed for beginners that you can just drop your pictures in.  I decided to stay with the primary colors and I really like the simplicity of this project. I wanted the pictures to be more the focal point and I think I achieved that. I used punches to add some more fun (circle and square).  The punches are just peeking out from behind.  I also used some grosgrain real red ribbon and some buttons to finish it off.  The journaling is on an oval punch filled in with white cardstock and blue lettering.

Remember you can try MDS for FREE for 30 days to see how much fun it is to create digitally. Visit Sisters in Stamping for more digital inspiration.

Have a wonderful day!

More Turtle & Co. Stacked High

Hello and Happy Tuesday to you,

I got a little peek at the new catalog yesterday (as a demonstrator we get little perks like that from time to time).  And all I'm going to say is that I think you will love it.  It's full of fun new stamps, great big shot accessories, eye catching designer series papers and so much more.  Want a copy of the catalog, just let me know.  I have those ordered and on soon on their way here too.  I just placed an order for some of the sneak peek things we were able to order early and I can't wait to start playing with some new goodies.

So while we wait, I decided to show you the final Ronald McDonald House card that I have that all coordinates with the other 4 projects I have shared previously.  This card is a striking resemblance to the gum treat holder I first posted. See gum treat post HERE.

You really don't need to have a ton of supplies to make some awesome cards.  So if you are just starting out, you can do it with a few colors and one stamp set.  I did!  For this series of projects, I used only 4 colors plus black and white.  And you can see (if you have been following these posts, if not, go back and check them all out) how different each card is. Just change the layout and use the stamps in a set in a different way than your first card and viola a whole new look.

STAMPIN' SUPPLIES:
Stamps: Turtle & Co.
Cardstock: Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery, Real Red, Basic Black & Whisper White
Inks: Basic Black
Accessories: Snail Adhesive, Mini glue dots, Stampin' Write Markers: Tempting Turquiose, Real Red, Daffodil Delight, & Certainly Celery
NON SU: Wiggle Eyes (Aren't they so much fun?  They add a whole new element to the card)

Have a wonderful day.  Oh and don't forget this Friday (May 11) I am holding a Retirement Open House and you are all welcome to attend.  There will be light snacks, specials, make n takes, and surprises for all in attendance.  Mark your calendar and I'll see you Friday.

Mini Scrapbook Day

Hello stamping friends,

It's time for a Fabulous Friday at Sisters in Stamping.  This week we decided to focus on Mini Scrapbooks in honor of National Scrapbook Month (and National Scrapbook Day which is tomorrow).  I love these mini books to give as gifts. What a fabulous way to share some memories with your friends and family.  Some other great ideas for a mini book would be to keep in your purse or to take with you when you are travelling.  You can have your loved ones near you the whole time (okay, only their picture, but still it's better than nothing).

These book are also great projects for children to work on over the Summer to document the fun times they have over Summer Vacation.

Today I made my mini book using brown lunch bags. That's right, a simple little lunch bag was the beginning of this book.  I used the Well Worn Designer Series Paper for a masculine feel for my book.  I titled it "Dad" but that can easily be changed out to a name or another word.

To make the boook I used two brown lunch bags.

Here's the book with the journaling tags that are tucked in the pockets pulled out a little for you to see.

Here's the first set of pages in this mini book.

Here's the second set of pages.

And the final set of pages in the book.

And of course I needed to show you the back of the book.

This is such a fun and really quick project to put together.  If you give it as a gift, the recipient will treasure it for a long time.

SUPPLIES USED:
Cardstock and Paper: Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, Night of Navy, and Well Worn Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Big Shot, Star Originals Die, Alphabet Simple Letters Die, Round Tab punch, Neutrals Brads,  baker's twine, dimensionals, and snail adhesive.

Thanks for stopping by today. Don't forget to head on over to Sisters in Stamping for more mini book inspiration.
