It's Official!

Hello Stamping Friends,

Yes, it's official, I have a 16 year old son who now has a driver's permit. Have no idea how it happened. Seems like just a few years ago, I brought home a beautiful bouncing baby boy and now they tell me he's growing into a fine young man.  I'm so proud of Noah and all that he is doing but honestly, just not ready for him to grow up.  I think at each age I say I wish he would just stay that age but he never listens. He just keeps growing up. I'm sure all of you with children could relate.

So now he is driving. Yikes, I'm so not ready for that. I let him drive in our development tonight and he really did a good job.  But as a nervous passenger (yes, me!) it's not easy to sit there with someone learning how to drive.  Way to get him started, a light rain (guess that helps with the bad weather driving he needs to do) and then 2 deer on each side of the road.  Really, he did great.  He then got home and convinced Dad to go out for a drive with him and Dad said he did great too.

This is Noah's invitation for his party this coming weekend.  He didn't want invitations, he told me he was fine with facebook invites (of course, this Mom was not hearing any of that) and made the simplest looking cards I could for a boy that didn't want anything fancy.  What do you think?  Did I pass the test?  I did sneak a car stamp on the inside over the words (which were printed in black) in river rock (so you can't really see it but it's definitely there).

Stamping Supplies Used:
Stamps: None (on the outside that you see)
Ink: None (again, on the outside that you see)
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White & River Rock, Neutrals Paper Stack (River rock)
Accessories: Big Shot, Houndstooth folder (hard to see in the picture but the white cardstock is embossed), big shot letters and numbers, 2 1/2" circle punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch and 1" circle punch, multipurpose glue, dimensionals

Ready for the Bunny?

Hello Stamping Friends,

It's time for another great Fabulous Friday posting with the Sisters in Stamping. This week we are sharing with you some last minute Easter treat ideas.  These are great if you want to give something small so show you care but want to make a huge impact.  I made about 45 of these cute little guys and gave them to Jonah to pass out to all the teachers and aides in his school. I was there that day as a mom (I am often a teacher there when substituting for other teachers) just volunteering to help with the annual egg races and many of the teachers and aides shared their excitement with me about getting this little treat.

They do deserve a little more appreciation then they get and definitely more often than what they receive. I was happy to see that I was able to put a little smile on their faces and brighten their day a little more. Afterall, the day was pretty bright for them already. It was a half day and then they would have the next 5 days off for Easter break.

Isn't it adorable?  And the best part of all is that there is chocolate inside.  I used the two tags die to make this little holder.  I folded a piece of cardstock in half and placed it just above the end of the tag so that it wouldn't cut the cardstock in two pieces, rather it would keep the fold and I'd be able to hide something inside.

I made them in all different colors. I just went to my stash of scraps (there's plenty of that hanging around) and pulled all "Eastery" colors. I actually used all scraps for the bunnies as well. Yes, I had that much early espresso pieces laying around.  I didn't have to cut even one full sheet of cardstock to make all 45 treats. Crazy, when you think about it.

So if you need to make a few little treats, just make these guys. They truly are quick and easy and quite impressive when received.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Hello O'Stampin' Friends,

Happy St. Patty's Day to you! Everyone is a wee bit of Irish on this day.  I really am a bit of Irish and we always make ham and cabbage with a special dessert on St. Patrick's Day. Jonah usually makes a leprechaun trap but this year he never completed it. Of course, this mom decided not to remind him saving herself some time and energy (which both was hard to come by this week, I ended up getting sick on Thursday and have been resting as much as I can since).

So in honor of this special day, I do have a card to share with you.  This is one of the projects that was made at my Big Shot class this afternoon.  I simply couldn't resist.

Isn't it adorable?  Who wouldn't welcome this little leprechaun in their mailbox?  I love the different colored strips of green cardstock for the background embossed.  What a fun little look.  Then the owl punch is a perfect little guy to start a leprechaun with. I only used three punches to make this guy.

I think I need to run and get me a Shamrock shake at Mickey D's. It is a special day and they won't be around for much longer.  Hope you enjoyed this little leprechaun and had a wonderful day.

Rain or Shine, I Think of You

Hello Stamping Friends,

Hope today friends you doing extremely well.  It is the last day of February and that means Spring is right around the corner. I know I can't wait: sun, warmer weather, trees growing their leaves, flowers blooming, birds chirping. Everything will suddenly come alive. It's just so energizing, isn't it?

Today I'm sharing a card with you that I made for a workshop a while back.  You  know that I needed to have the whale set and I think I'm doing a pretty good job of actually using the set, don't you?  I think it's a great set to pair with the oh, so cute umbrellas too.

I used the window frames framelits for my focal point. And to add a little twist to the look I didn't use them to layer, instead I just used square pieces of cardstock for my layers. Also, I like the pairing of this particular designer series paper because there are clouds and raindrops and then the sun shining and rainbows, perfect for the greeting on this card. Well, that's what I thought anyway.  I stamped the umbrella handle right on the window frame cutout instead of trying to cut it out. Much easier that way.

I know I've been hearing lots of rumbles and grumbles when I have to have stampers cut out the umbrellas though. Everyone asks for a punch or framelits. Boy, we have become extremely spoiled, haven't we?

It looks like this card is more difficult to put together than it really is and I credit the designer paper for that. Makes it looks so nice without much effort at all.
