Hello Stamping Friends,

I know it's been awhile since I posted. Thanks for bearing with me. I've still been creating and holding classes, posting just hasn't been able to happen. I can't wait to share more with you in the upcoming weeks. It will get your creative juices flowing.

Today with the Sisters in Stamping we are sharing with you shaker cards. Big person or small person, everyone loves to receive a fun interactive card. This one is sure to please your little friends at Christmas. Imagine their excitement as they take the "boring" card out of the envelope and find that Santa's beard is a snow globe full of sparkly fun.

You may be saying to  yourself, "I don't remember Stampin' Up! having that stamp!"  Well, you're right, it's not a stamp at all and that's what makes this a quick and relatively easy shaker card to make. The supplies are minimal and it comes together rather quickly, so even if you are a slacker and waited until the last minute (like I usually am anymore) you can make a fun card to give. I used one of the Memories and More card packs (found  in the Holiday Catalog) for my focal point.

The card is 4"x6" so I cut it down to 4'x 5 1/4", then I used another card from the pack cut down to the same size for the inside of his beard. In real life it is super sparkly. The snowflakes are all glitter.  I cut a 2 1/2" circle out of his beard, cut a window sheet to fit and then used the dimensional strips to make my shaker area. I then attached the Santa card to the snowflake card also using he dimensional strips so the card doesn't buckle.

For the inside shaker elements, I used a few of the self adhesive snowflakes that come in the card pack. They are sticky on the back so I used the embossing buddy to take the stickiness away. I also used some silver, white and blue chunky glitter.

Fishy Friends, Peekaboo, I See You

Welcome to another Fabulous Friday with the Sisters in Stamping. Peekaboo, I See You! This week we are sharing projects made using window sheets. Have you used some window sheets lately? If not, you're going to want to pull them out after today. You are going to love the projects.

As most of you know, we have a 55 gallon salt water fish tank, which by the way, my husband and son agree that it isn't nearly big enough. They want bigger. However, they are running into a serious problem: where in the house would they put a bigger tank without taking out furniture (because they know I won't agree to that). So I love all the fish sets that we have and love creating with them.

This is a collage of some pictures of our tank. Yep, they are the real deal. I have to say, having the tank is so relaxing and peaceful. We can sit for hours and watch them. They do have some personality too. We have the tank in our family room where there is no TV, so it's just some good 'ole fashioned sitting around and visiting that goes on  in there. Just us and our Fishy Friends.

Today's card is a shaker card (yep, you need a window sheet for those) using a what else but a fish set. Shaker cards are so fun to make. Plus, the recipient is always excited to receive it because it's fun to play with. We all love interactive cards, doesn't matter how old you are.

So to make the shaker, you want to cut a shape (in this case, a large circle) in the top layer of your card. Attach the window sheet using tear and tape. Then you will use the dimensional long strips to outline the cut out shape from the backside of the cardstock. Or you can use the cut out scrap and place that on your card. Then outline that with the diminsional strips. Tip: Place down the top layer of cardstock on the base of the card, then put the scrap piece back in the hold. Lift the top layer off the card so you know exactly where the hole going to be and it will line up.

Fill the dimensional strip hole in with whatever you are going to use for the shaker card. For this card, the little beads that come in the silica packing pouches in shoes and things like that were colored using ink refills and then put in to use for the shaker part. Pretty neat, huh? Don't throw those silica beads out.

Then you just peel the paper backing off the strips and place your top layer on your card. Now comes the fun part, decorating!  This card was a lot of work but oh, so worth it. Look how beautiful it is. Yes, each fish, seaweed, shell, and starfish was cut out by hand. If you are stamping with friends or watching TV, it isn't too bad. It goes rather quickly.

Let's Shake A Little

Hello Stamping Friends,

So glad you are able to stop by today and take in a little stamping inspiration. Remember, it is Friday and that means a great post over at Sisters in Stamping. This week we are using a water theme. So be sure to head over to see what the other sister were inspired to create using our theme.

I created a fun little card using the awesome jar set. It is such a fun, versatile set that you should definitely add to your collection if you don't already have it. Honestly, you can do so much with it.  This particular card is a shaker card. There is some sand and a seashell inside the jar that moves around when you shake the card. Shaker cards are so much fun to make.

I embossed the background strips with the wave folder and then took the ink pad right to the paper and "scraped" it along the raised waves to give them some more depth.Two of the goldfish are die cut and attached with dimensionals to add more dimension and interest to the card.
