Sweet Baby Cards

Hello Stamping Friends,

Today with the Sisters in Stamping we are sharing some sweet baby cards with you.

And as I await the arrival of my first granddaughter, I was inclined to make a pink card. I am so excited, I just can't wait for her to get here. She is our second grandchild, first girl. Needless to say, my grandson is not having any of it. He's definitely a little jealous and told me that I can't spend time with her like I do him once a week. I told him that he is my favorite grandson and she will be my favorite granddaughter. He made sure to let me know that that is not an option because he is the favorite grandchild. I suppose he's in for an adjustment soon. I know he will love her once she's here.

The thing I absolutely love about this card is that it doesn't use a baby set.  So even if you don't have a set for a particular occasion, you can still make a great card. I used the designer series paper from the mini catalog, Lighter than Air. The pastel colors are perfect for a new baby. I also used the Alphabet Ala Mode dies to cut the letters for baby.  The rectangle behind is from the Radiating stitches dies and the white layer (although difficult to see in the picture) is embossed with some dots. That folder is unfortunately no longer available. I will miss it, but will be keeping my dots.

I used the petal park flower punch to make the flower after I curled the edges of each petal to give it some dimension. And what little baby girl card would be complete without some soft pearls?

So next time you need to make a card last minute using a specific theme and don't have stamps to match, think outside the box a bit and use what you have on hand.

A Little Something for Baby

Hello Stamping Friends,

Dropping by to share with you this cute little baby card. It uses the circle card thinlits that makes this fun fold card very easy to make. It cuts and scores for you, leaving the fun part of embellishing and designing for you to complete. Give this card to a mom-to-be or new mom and she just may forget to open the present you brought along because she's too busy "playing" with the card.

If you follow the directions on the packaging that comes with the framelits, you will not have a card that opens. I cut my cutstock at 8 1/2 x 11" and then lifted the right side of the cardstock to go through the framelit. With it above the metal, it won't cut the paper. However, the added bonus is that is will score the paper where you need it to fold so it will fit in a regular card sized envelope. Pretty cool, don't you think?

This is what the card will look like all closed up when you just pull it out of the envelope.

And here it is all opened up. Plenty of room to write a little message of congratulations. See the part with the arrows embossed? That is the extra piece so imagine that edge gone and that is what the card would look like without the flip open part (aka, if you followed the directions in the package. Obviously, I can't read, lol)

Occasions Mini Catalog Favorites

Welcome to another Fabulous Friday at Sisters in Stamping.  This week we are sharing some of our favorite stamp sets from the Occasions Mini Catalog that made the big debut on Wednesday.  Don't have your copy yet, let me know and I can get one out to you.

Let me tell you, it WAS NOT easy picking one favorite.  There are so many awesome stamps in there that I was tempted to just make a card with a stamp from each one.  Just kidding but really it wasn't easy picking.

I finally decided on the Baby Prints set.  I do know a few people having babies and thought I would kill two birds with one stone. I just love the little hand prints.  I think this set would also be good to use for preschoolers.  You know those little sayings about handprints being all over? Now there's another idea for me to work on.

I made this card using pretty in pink and wisteria wonder as my main colors.  You can easily change it out to certainly celery and bashful blue for a boy card.  The wisteria wonder polka dot designer series paper comes from the awesome pack in the Sweet Shop product suite.  The paper is also called Sweet Shop.

I just finished the card off with a little piece of 1/8" pretty in pink taffeta ribbon knotted over the designer paper.  The main image (the handprints) is attached using dimensionals.  But of course you knew that already, right?

Thanks for stopping by.  Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping to see what the favorite stamp set is for each "sister."
