Technique Sunday: No Line Watercoloring

Hello Stamping Friends,

Sunday Fun Day is here again. This week we are focusing on a specific technique. Have you ever tried no line coloring?  I love the finished look of it.

The teacher in me loves apples, so I naturally gravitated to this line art set for this technique challenge. The purpose of no line water coloring is to have an image that has soft edges without any definitive lines. Water coloring is not a natural thing for me to do, but I am pleased with the final outcome of this card. I hope it inspires you to try this fun technique.

To begin you need to stamp your image in a very light neutral color. I stamped this card in crumb cake that was actually stamped off first onto scrap paper.  Then you use the water painters to pick up color from the lid of your ink pad and start coloring in your image. Be sure to clean off your brush before moving on to a new color.   I felt the Glorious gingham designer series paper was a perfect touch for an apple card.

For even more inspiration using the no line water coloring technique head on over to Sisters in Stamping.

Birthday Fun

Hello Stamping Friends,

Sunday Fun Day is here. Today the Sisters in Stamping are ready to share some great birthday fun with you.

Hello Stamping Friends,

Here today with another Sunday Fun Day with the Sisters in Stamping. Today we are celebrating birthdays. Everyone has one, so we always need more birthday cards.

I used the Hot Air Balloon bundle to make my card. I also used the Lighter Than Air 6x6 Designer series paper as my source for color inspiration as well as using it on the card for a background. I used a combination of plain die cuts on cardstock and stamped die cut images on this card. I think it makes the stamped images stand out even more.

I love how soft yet bold this card looks because of the colors. I die cut two banners: one in basic white and the other in pool party. The basic white layer is stamped on and then the end "ribbons" were cut off before I layered the two colors to make one banner.

It's January and that means it's time to make some new birthday cards for the coming year. Hope this card inspired you.

Thanks for stopping by. See you soon.

DON'T FORGET: It's Sale-a-bration time and that means you can earn FREE product with each qualifying order. Order today because Sale-a-bration is a limited time offer from Stampin' Up!

Time to Sale-a-brate

Another Sunday Fun Day with the Sisters in Stamping is before us, but this is a special one. It's the kick-off to Sale-a-bration. The most wonderful time of the year. Well, with Stampin' Up! anyway. With every order of $50 or more you can select from a variety of stamp sets, paper and accessories to add on to your order for FREE.

There are two levels of items you can choose from, the $50 and the $100. For this card, I used a bundle from the $100 Level 2.  It is called Softly Sophisticated and includes the stamp set and an embossing folder. (You may need to zoom in on my card to see the folder on the cardstock.)  I also used the Flight and Airy designer series paper which is a Level 1 Sale-a-bration item for the background paper.

I also used the postage dies from the mini catalog to stamp my greeting and image on. The designer series paper was cut down to be the next layer on the base and then I cut it in half on a diagonal.

To jazz up the card a bit, I used some rhinestones on the centers of the flowers to bring a little extra pizzazz to the finished card.
