Time for a Snowball Fight

Hello Stamping Friends,

Welcome to another Fabulous Friday posting.  This week the Sisters in Stamping blog is focusing on Christmas cards. It is certainly the time to begin thinking (well, we should really be making) Christmas cards.  I know I need to get moving on my cards. I have the colors picked out, now just to pick out the stamps and design the cards. Not much, right?

This is also one of the cards that I made for my Stamp a Stash class last night. I'll share the other cards with you in the next few days.  This is a great card that can actually be used all winter long. Snowmen are great not only at Christmas, well that was my opinion at least. Also, if you need to make some Christmas cards be sure to come to my December Stamp a Stash (12/13) because that's all we will be doing.

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more Holiday Inspiration.

Love Making Homemade Ornaments

Hello Stamping Friends,

Here in Northeast PA we are seeing some great (okay, not so great) winter weather. We got a few inches of snow yesterday.  Guess it's time to get those darn, loud snow tires on my car.  Took one of my son's friends home from volleyball conditioning and go stuck in his driveway. He has a super long driveway (probably 1/2 - 3/4 mile) and there is a hill just before the house and yep, I couldn't get up it. That pretty much tells me, it's time.  I put off getting them on as long as I can even though my Dad has been telling me for a month now to get them on. Suppose it's time to call Dad and ask him to take it. Maybe I can wait until December 1st, we're not expecting any more snow this week. (Yep, the ultimate procrastinator in snow tire dept).

Anyway, enough about that. Here's an ornament I made using the ornament on the front of the Holiday catalog as inspiration.  I decided I DID NOT want to make one in the traditional red and green Christmas colors. I went with my favorite snowflake colors, blue and purple.  I used Pool Party & Wisteria Wonder.  What do you think?

I also changed it up from the one on the front of the catalog by adding a glimmering snowflake to the center, instead of a lolli. I love, love, love the cool colors (I don't not love, love, love the cool weather though, please don't make that mistake, lol) I love making ornaments though.  I have been holding an ornament exchange party at my home for about 15 years.  Everyone needs to make homemade ornaments and they bring one for everyone and they in return get one of everyone's. It's so much fun. So, of course, I needed to make one of these beauties. That and a whole group of people kept asking me to make them at their club gathering.

Here's a little closer view of the ornament. I must admit these ornaments are very time consuming to make. They are difficult just take a lot of time.  I wouldn't make a 100 of them.  Maybe 25, haha.

Stamping Supplies Used:
Stamps: Ornament Keepsakes
Ink: Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party
Cardstock: Whisper White, Silver Glimmer Paper, Pool party, 2011-2013 In-Color Paper Stack

Everyone Needs a Christmas Planner

Hello Stamping Friends,

Do you have that one place where you can keep all your Christmas planning information?  If not, then you need one of these Christmas planners.  Or you need to make several to give as gifts this Holiday Season.  They are so easy to create that you can even personalize them by making them each a little different to suit the recipient perfectly.

This is one of the quick and easy Christmas gifts we made at my class earlier this month.  How do you make it you ask?  Very easily, it's just a black and white marble composition notebook covered and some tabs added.  See told you it was easy.  I used this year's Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper as my starting point to pick colors and layout.  I covered the notebook first with solid colored cardstock and then layered with designer paper. You definitely need to use sticky strip to hold it together. I think that's the part everyone hated at the class.  You can embellish the front any way you would like.

For the tabs you count every 25 pages (this notebook had 100 pages), put a piece of cardstock (cut to size) on the front sheet of the set of 25 pages, then punch a decroative label punch in coordinating cardstock. Fold it in half and attach to the page. I used the small oval punch to add more dimension to the tag. Here's some ideas for each section: recipes, family traditions, gifts, christmas card list (sent and received).

Stamping Supplies Used:
Stamps: Open Sleigh
Ink: Gumball Green & Cherry Cobbler
Cardstock: Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla & Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Sticky Strip, Snail Adhesive, Decorative Label Punch, Small Oval Punch, Paper Snips, Dimensionals,Gumball Green Sweater Trim Ribbon, and  Snow Festival Designer Printed Tags

Flowers for You

Hello Stamping Friends,

How is the Thanksgiving weekend going for you?  Here it's just been very relaxing. I really needed to relax after the crazyiness of the past few weeks. I've been going non-stop. I know I should be decorating for Christmas, making my Christmas cards, and doing some much needed shopping for the holidays but that will all be there tomorrow. Today it's all about relaxation. If I feel like doing more, okay, if not, okay too. I know you can all relate with this attitude, maybe not today but defintely during other times in your life.

This is a card we made at last month's punch class.  A couple of vases full of greens and flowers. Pretty clever, huh?  The "vases" are made with circle and oval punches with the top and/or bottom cut off.  The flowers are from the boho blossoms punch, the green leaf stems are from the bird punch.  It comes together easily and quickly.  Gotta love that for cardmaking in a pinch. But I must say, it is a quite impressive card to give to someone you are thinking about.

Stamping Supplies Used:
Stamps: Sweet Essentials
Ink: Pacific Point, Basic Gray
Cardstock: Calypso Coral, Whisper White, Pacific Point, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi, & Real Red
Accessories: Boho Blossoms punch, Bird punch, wide oval punch, large oval punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, 1/16" hole punch, silver brads, aqua painter, snail adhesive, dimensionals, and paper snips

Don't forget about my Annual Thanksgiving Sale going on until tomorrow. Check back HERE for all the details.

12 Weeks of Christmas - Stamp Case Scrapbook

Hello Stamping Friends,

It's time for another installment of the 12 Weeks of Christmas.  We are a few days late with this so we could enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday with family. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We are already in week 8, and if you are doing the math, that means there's only 4 more weeks before Christmas is upon us.  I'm sure after Thanksgiving and Black Friday most of you are in high gear getting ready for Christmas.  I know I haven't done much shopping (I'm certainly NOT a Black Friday kind of gal, I'd rather watch my sister's kids so she and her husband can go out) but all of my decorations are waiting in my family room to be pulled out of the boxes and make the house look magical.

This weeks tutorial is also a magical kind of kit. If you make it and give it as a gift, it will be sure delight for years to come.  I transformed a simple clear stamp set case into a wonderful pull-out scrapbook that you can jam-pack with photos and memorabilia (yes, there's some pockets for you to keep those special momentos from the season).  It won't even take you too much time to complete the entire book. I made it even easier by using a Simply Scrappin' kit.

And here's a view of part of it pulled out of the case.  If you would like complete instructions you can purchase the tutorial by clicking the links below.  Remember you can buy just this week's tutorial or you can get all 12 weeks. Of course, the better deal is purchasing all 12 weeks.  And I must tell you, they have been great so far and you are going to love the last 4 weeks as well.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hello Stamping Friends,

I'm more than sure many of you are probably getting ready for your big Thanksgiving Dinner, either preparing it for your family and friends or preparing to eat lots of turkey and all the trimmings that go along with it, but I wanted to drop in really quick and say Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

I'm busy prepping for our dinner. I've been hosting Thanksgiving dinner at my home since Don and I were married.  I actually took over Thanksgiving preparations the year my Mom passed away. Well, all except for the turkey, I still let Dad do that. Hey, come on, I need room in the oven for all the pies and trimmings. (That's why I keep telling my dear husband that if we ever do our kitchen over I NEED two ovens)

Isn't this little turkey the cutest thing ever?  Made with punches and a unique way to use the very pretty large lace background stamp.  Mary Lee M (from my Yurinkin' team) made this card for one of our team swaps. She colored only part of the stamp with three different markers before stamping it on the cardstock.

So from Mr. Turkey and myself, Have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Some Great Gift Ideas

Hello Stamping Friends,

The sharing continues......

And all I have to say is I love these great little gift ideas shared by Patty J. at our November Yurinkin' Stamp Addicts get together. These are great for giving to co-workers, neighbors and friends to let them know you are thinking of them during this Holiday season without breaking the bank. And the recipient will be so happy that you thought of them and took the time to make them a special treat.

A little reindeer food for all those "little people" in your life to spread on their sidewalks to guide Rudolph to their house. Isn't the punched Rudolph so cute?  The top note die is a perfect bag topper too.

Kids too "old" for reindeer food?  How 'bout a Rudolph chocolate bar?  Again the punches make this a very easy treat to duplicate.

Outdoor lovers will love this treat of bird seed so they can watch their favorite birds all winter long. Again, the punches and the pre-printed tags from the Holiday catalog make this easy to duplicate and make multiples of.

Just wanted to show you the full thing.

And maybe my favorite is this little turkey with super long legs (licorice in 1x6 cello bags) made from punches.

Hope you have been inspired to make a treat or two this Holiday season to let your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers know you are thinking of them.

Cool, New iPhone App

Stampin' Up has created a new app...at this time it is only available on the iPhone, iPad or the iTouch. (It will be released for Android soon, date to be announced so keep watching if you are an android user)  It is FREE and is called Simply Sent™ and works like a micro-version of My Digital Studio. Click the Simply Sent logo image, or the link below, to go to the iTunes app page.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/simply-sent/id577263957?mt=8

Above is a screenshot, which basically gives you the instructions: you choose a background, add your own photo (from your gallery or take a photo), accessorize with a few embellishments, add a greeting or other text, and then you can share your creation via email, or Facebook. Your created cards should be saved in your gallery for you.

Here are some cute Simply Sent card samples:

Unfortunately, I do not own an iPhone, iPad or iTouch, so you will get to enjoy this one without me! That is, until it is released for the Android. I can't wait.

Another Collage of Projects Awaits You

Hello Stamping Friends,

The bountiful sharing continues. Definitely a lot of inspiration for you over the past week. I hope you have found several things that you liked and are ready to make for yourself. I think I have one more day left to share (maybe even two, we shall wait to see).  Today's projects were shared by Maria P.

First up is a bookmark. Who wouldn't want this beautiful art to keep the spot in their favorite book?

This is a Thanksgiving card Maria made using fabric as her focal point. Got a pretty piece of fabric laying around, how about using it on a card?

This Thanksgiving card she made using a piece of a holiday napkin. How many times have you found a pretty napkin and thought what more can I do with this? Well now here's an idea.

And here's another card she used a piece of fabric as her focal point.  The cupcake is fabric.  Love how it goes with this year's hostess set.

Maria, thanks for sharing and giving us some out of the box ideas.

More Team Sharing

Hello Stamping friends,

I'm still on the sharing kick.  I'm telling you, my team did such a wonderful job sharing their talents at our November meeting and I can't help but share with all of you. And to top it all off, I still have two more days of sharing left. Hope you are loving it as much as I am.  Today's creativity is brought to you by Patti H.

Here she used the Winter Memories stamp set from the Holiday catalog to make a traditional color Christmas card.  She sponged the edges of her pieces to make it all come together nicely.

And then she made a magnetic bookmark with a fall theme using the two tags die and the big shot.

Here's the inside of the bookmark. Yes, you need a magnet on both sides. When you are die cutting this tag for the book mark remember to place your folded cardstock just under the cutting part of the die so you end up with one piece and not two.  I love these bookmarks. They are so fun to make for any season or occasion.

Patti H. thanks for sharing with us.
