School Days, School Day, Good Old Golden Rule Days

Hello Stamping Friends,

Welcome to another Fabulous Friday with the Sisters in Stamping.  This week's theme was Back to School teachers cards and or gifts.  Well I decided to be an over achiever and do both. (haha)  No really I couldn't do one without the other.  I hope you enjoy it, there will be a tutorial you can purchase later this week with complete step by step instructions on how to make this cute card holder and cards that go inside.

This is the closed fabric envelope holder.  It's a larger size so you can easily fit larger cards inside as well.  I think you can even fit a small jr. legal pad inside.  Just thought of that now so I'll have to try it and let you know how I make out. Isn't the Orchard Harvest Fabric the best?  I love the stripes and the gingham. It's right up my alley.

Here's the holder with the four I made to go inside.  I made 2 of each design.  I love the cards.

Here's card # 1.

And Card # 2.

What do you think?  Adorable, right?  What teacher wouldn't love an apple that is never going to over ripen on her desk?  Even if you don't have any children in school or teacher friends to give this cute set to, you can give to anyone because apples are definitely in season this time of year.  I can't wait for our local cider mill to open to go get some fresh apples and make some yummy pies.  The rest of the family can't wait for them to open just to have their apple cider (I don't like cider, but I do love their apple cider donuts, hmmmm, I can hardly wait for the warm, fresh donuts).

Hope you have enjoyed this week's fabulous Friday post. Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more great Back to School treats for your favorite teacher.

Love, it's all About Love

Hello Stamping Friends,

Hope you are finding yourself having a great week. Today I'm putting all the finishing touches on this month's Stamp a Stash class that is tonight.  I love getting ready for this class. If you come you get to make 12 cards (3 different designs and 4 of each design) so you go home with quite a stash ready to send out to your friends and family.  You should really plan on coming (call me if you want to come tonight). I hold this class on the last Thursday of the month (sometimes that changes due to holidays so check my schedule on my website).

Today's project is a continuation of the Daydream Medallion parade of convention display samples.  This one is the scrapbook page I made using our Mother's Day photo. It is a tradition we have been doing since Noah was born (well actually, I think since he was one because he was only a few weeks for my first Mother's Day). We had so much fun getting these pictures taken, the boys even smiled. Boy, is that quite a feat, ask my sister-in-law, the photographer.

I used our outfits to pick the color for the layout, Calypso Coral.  I really love the pop of orange in the picture. I decided to use Crumb cake as the other main color because of the woodsy background in our picture.

Here's a close up of the flower. It's huge. The largest framelit in the Floral Frames is awesomely huge. I love it.  I stamped four of the images from Daydream Medallions in calypso coral onto crumb cake cardstock and then used the framelits to cut them out. Love how the framelits make life easier with less cutting. The pearls were a perfect touch to finish off the flower.

And here's a close up of the title love and the journaling section. Notice the little flower's center is a brad with a string of basic pearls around it. Also, I used one of the smallest stamp to make a background for this page.

Stamping Supplies:

Ink: Calypso Coral
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Calyspo Coral

Dreaming...It's what I did this morning

Hello Stamping Friends,

Here at theYurkanin home we are on our third day of school and still trying to get used to the schedule. Have I ever told you that we are NOT morning people in this house? For example, after I got Noah on the bus this morning, I laid back down on the couch until it was time to wake Jonah up and get him ready for school, well I was so tired that I didn't realize the alarm on my phone was set for Tuesday and today is Wednesday. So it didn't go off and I didn't get up until I heard my husband's alarm going off upstairs.  Jonah was up, dressed, ate breakfast, lunch made and out the door in 10 minutes.  Oops! Not a good start to the morning but at least we weren't late.

This card is another card I created for the convention display boards using Daydream Medallions. I love the soft look of this card. It was a pretty easy card that didn't take much time to make. I love cards like that. It's a great card to make multiples of, change the greeting, and you have a very pretty card for any occasion.

I really like how the flower turned out. I sponged the edges of each layer and then curled the edges of them before attaching them with dimensionals.

I have three more cards using this set so be sure to come back for more inspiration.

Another First Day is Underway

Hello Stamping Friends,

Hope you had a wonderful weekend.  We did here in the Yurkanin household. The boys were thrilled to end their summer vacation at the StreetLeague Skateboarding finals in Newark, New Jersey. I do think that is a new end of summer tradition. Noah & Don went last year and this year Jonah was able to go too.  He was soooo excited. It's all he talked about last week.

With that said, today was a back to school grind kind of morning. Yep, it was the first day of school. I can safely tell you that none of us were too excited about it. We don't like the early mornings. We, as a family, don't do mornings. LOL I just hope Noah and Jonah had an excellant first day of school.  I'm eagerly waiting for them to come home to hear all about it.

Here is my big Sophomore in high school. I simply don't know how in the world that happened.  All Noah keeps telling me is that in 8 short months he can start driving. YIKES!!!!!!! This mother is NOT ready for her little boy to be all grown up.  Help, how can I stop this????????

And here is my big 3rd grader. Again, how in the world is this happening. Wasn't it just yesterday I was bringing baby Jonah home just in time for Christmas?

NOTE:  Did you notice the looks on both boys faces?  Don't they look absolutely thrilled about school?  Or maybe it's just that Mom makes them take these silly pictures. Nah, I really think it's the morning thing. Told you we don't do mornings.

Now onto some creative inspiration.  This is a card that I made using the Daydream Medallions stamp set. It was oneof six projects that I needed to make for the convention display boards using this set.  I really love how this card turned out. Pink, black & White are always great together. What do you think?

DayDREAM Medallion Banner

Hello Stamping Friends,

Today begins the next series of projects that I created for Stampin' Up!'s convention in July for the display boards. This series of fun is brought to you by DayDream Medallion stamp set. Hope you enjoy all that I have to share.

This is the 3D item I made using the Daydream Medallion set. It's a fun banner that would be a great addition to any room (especially my purple stamp room, too bad I only made one and sent it in to Stampin' Up!).  We all need to dream a little and to follow those dreams when appropriate, don't we?

Close up of the first 2 letters of the banner.

Close up of the next 2 letters of the banner.

And the last letter (with the A repeated) of the banner.

For each letter I stamped the largest medallion image on Elegant Eggplant cardstock using Elegant Eggplant ink. Then I stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock with Wisteria Wonder ink with the next size smaller medallion, and finally I stamped on Wisteria Wonder cardstock with Wisteria Wonder ink with the next smallest medallion.  They are all layered together using dimensionals. The letters are from the new Typeset Alphabet Bigz dies.

The pennants in betwwen each letter are die cut from the Perfect Pennants Bigs XL die using Very Vanilla and Wisteria Wonder cardstock. I alternated the 4 pennants so I could just use the cardstock I already cut and love how it turned out. Two of the pennants I placed the tiny medallion on the top of the pennant and then 2 of them I placed the medallion in the middle of the pennant.

All the medallions were cute using the Floral Frames Framelits. Makes creating this banner so easy.

Stamping Supplies Used:
Stamps: Daydream Medallion
Ink: Wisteria Wonder & Elegant Eggplant
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder & Whisper White cardstock
Accessories: Big Shot, Floral Frames Framelits, Perfect Pennants Bigs XL die, Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder, & Typeset Alphabet bigs dies, Snail adhesive and dimensionals.

More Demonstrator Team Swaps

Hello Stamping Friends,

I'm bringing you more demonstrator team meeting swaps today. This set is all fall related. Yes, Fall is right around the corner and you are going to love these ideas to get your creative juices flowing for all your Fall stamping.

The above cards was created by Dianne S. She left the center of the card open so we could fill it in with any greeting we needed. She used the Day  of Gratitude stamp set.

The above card was created by Patti H. She used great Fall colors. She even multicolored the Tweet Leaves stamp to separate the bird from the rest of the leaf images.

The above card was created by MaryLee M. She used the triple time stamping method on her card. The stamps are from the Gently Used stamp set.

The above card and pencil treat were made by Maria P. She made an adorable card and pencil gift that would be great for back to school.  She used the Greeting Card Kids stamp set for this ensemble.

Just a closer picture of the card so you can see it better. The paper is from the Orchard Harvest Designer pack in the Holiday Catalog.

This fall gift bag was also created by Maria P. She swapped it with all of us at a meeting where everyone was to use something from the Holiday Mini. The other demos decided on Christmas images (which I shared with you earlier) so I held onto this beauty for this post when all the other ideas were Fall.    She used many things on this great bag. The stamp set is Gently Falling, she used the new die, Autumn Accents and the Orchard harvest designer paper from the Holiday Catalog.

Just a Little Spritz (okay, I used a lot)

Hello Stamping Friends,

It's that time of the week again. Time for Fabulous Friday with the Sisters in Stamping. I just can't believe how fast time is going by. This is our last weekend of summer, the kiddos head to school bright and early on Monday morning. I can tell you this much, the Yurkanin boys (and Mommy too) aren't quite ready for that routine just yet.  Guess it doesn't matter much how we feel because ready or not Monday is quickly approaching.

Anyway, this week's theme with the sisters was to use a spritzer. In the Stampin' Up! 2012-2013 catalog there are several different types of spritzers. There's the color spritzer which uses Stampin' Write markers to "spray" your project. There's the Smooch Spritz which comes already to spritz your project and then there are the empty Spritzers that you can make your own shimmer spray or fill with water and spritz on your project or stamp to make the ink run a little giving it more of a watercolor look.

I used the empty Spritzer to make my own shimmer spray using Frost White Shimmer Paint and alcohol. I filled my bottle with about 3/4 alcohol and then I poured in a little shimmer paint. If you use more paint it will be a heavier coverage, less paint equals less coverage. So first I embossed the early espresso Core'dinations cardstock and then sanded it to show the core of the paper. Then I spritzed the paper using my homemade spritz.

I also used some other great products found in the totally awesome Holiday catalog. I still can not believe how much awesomeness is packed into those pages. If you still don't have your own copy please let me know so I can get one to you. You will NOT want to miss out on this one.

Stampin' Supplies Used:
Stamps: Blooming with Kindness
Ink: Stampin Write Markers in Baja Breeze and Early Espresso
Paper: Very Vanilla & Baja Breeze cardstock, Early Espresso Core'dinations cardstock
Accessories: Big Shot, Lacy Brocade Impressions Folder, Window Frames Collection Framelits, Stampin' Sanding System, Core'dinations Dust Buddy, Frost White Shimmer Paint, Stampin' Spritzer, Very Vanilla Seam Binding, Scallop Oval punch and Large Oval punch, dimensionals, and snail adhesive and alcohol

Demonstrator Team Swaps

Hello Stamping Friends,

Glad you stopped by today. I'm sharing 3 different cards with you today that I received at my demonstrator team meeting when we used sets from the Holiday Catalog.  Don't you just love that catalog?  There are so many great things in it. Just last week I found two more things (gusseted cello bags and silver dazzling details) in it that I didn't see before.  Oh and let's not forget that I totally missed the awesome Snowflake Big Shot die. Yes, I had to put an order in right away to get those items. I can't wait for them to get here and start playing with them.

The above card created by Patti H. uses the great set, Ornament Keepsakes and the coordinating framelits, Holiday Ornaments as well as the paper piercing templates, Festive.

The above card created by MaryLee M. uses the Frosty Friends stamps & Paper from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper stack.

The above card created by Patty J. also uses the Frosty Friends set. Love the cool blues on any snowman card.

Remember these are cards that demonstrators in my group made and swapped at my monthly team meeting. Want new ideas all the time? Join the Stampin' Up! family today for only $99. Contact me for more information. Or just head over to my website and click JOIN NOW to join.

A Congratulations Card for Me

Hello Stamping Friends,

Today I'm sharing with you a card that I received from one of my Sisters in Stamping sisters, Karla Anders, on my achievement of earning the Getaway Trip to Hilton Head Island in September. I'm so excited to be going on that trip and I want you to know that I am extremely grateful to all of you for supporting me throughout the year and helping me to achieve the goal of earning the trip for my husband. He's excited too.

It was such a nice surprise to receive this in the mail. Karla, thank you so much for thinking of me. I love the card but I love that you took the time out to send it to me even more.

It's a great card that you can easily duplicate and make several of at one time.

Stamping Supplies Used:
Stamps:Bright Blossoms & Curly Cute
Ink: Gumball Green & Rich Razzleberry
Paper: Whisper White & Basic Black Cardstock, Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon, Dimensionals & Snail Adhesive.

Again, thank you Karla, for thinking of me.

Boo! Are you afraid & want your Mummy?

Hello Stamping Friends,

Welcome back to my blog. Halloween is always a fun time of year. Although I dislike what the cooler weather means (winter coming), I love the fall festivities. Pumpkin patches, apple picking, colorful leaves, and of course there's Halloween costumes and lots of candy.  Today, I'm sharing with you a card that I made for my demonstrator downline swap this month. It uses a lot of goodies from the awesome Holiday Catalog. (Don't have your copy yet?  Let me know so I can get one out to you)

And get this, I managed to make a card and NOT use any Big Shot dies or folders on it. I didn't know I still could do that but somehow I managed on this one. And that wasn't even part of the challenge.

I love the look of the paper pieces. It looks like a Mummy wrapping doesn't it?  I sponged the edges of each piece of whisper white cardstock with crumb cake before I attached them to the basic gray layer for the focal point.

I love the new set, Googly Ghouls. Each of hte stamps scream for you to use the Googlies (aka wiggle eyes) on them. You can get the Ghoulish Googlies Bundle (the Googly Ghouls Stamp set and Ghoulish Googlies Desigher Printed Kit) for 15% individual priced items.  It's great for packaging up treats for your extra special Trick or Treaters.

Stamping Supplies Used:
Stamps: Googly Ghouls
Ink: Basic Black & Crumb Cake
Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White & Basic Gray cardstock & Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Stamping Sponge, Paper Snips, Snail Adhesive, Googlies, Dimensionals

In Color Birds

Hello Stamping Friends,

I'm so glad you came back today for a visit.  Today I have the final card that I made for convention using the products found in the Birds of a Feather product suite.  This card is pretty straight forward and no fancy tricks used here.  Just lots of layers and that's what makes this card.

I used four of the new 2012-2014 In Colors on this card, raspberry ripple, island indigo, summer starfruit, and primrose petals.  I stamped the cute birds in each color and then used the 1" square punch to punch them out. I then layered them onto summer starfruit cardstock that was punched with the postage stamp punch.  They are attached to the card using dimensionals.

I also stamped the Love you from Itty Bitty Banners on each of the four colors of cardstock using the coordinating color ink pad.  (Don't you just love the new ink pads. The coverage you get for solid stamps is so great.)  I then used the Itty Bitty Banners framelits to cut out the greetings.  They are also attached to the card using dimensionals.

I know it's difficult to see in the picture but I need to tell you the primrose petal square cardstock and the whisper white cardstock that is on the base are both embossed using the perfect polka dots texture impressions folder.

Stamping Supplies:
Stamps: Flock Together, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit, Island Indigo, & Primrose Petals
Cardstock: Whisper White, Summer Starfruit, Island Indigo, Raspberry Ripple, & Primrose Petals
Accessories: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dot Texture Impression Folder, Itty Bitty Banner Framelits, 1" Square Punch, Postage punch, dimensionals

A Perfect Little Gift Bag

Hello Stamping Friends,

I'm back with more Flock Together samples today. Hope you enjoyed the Holiday samples shared by Sisters in Stamping yesterday.  And of course, I hope you will enjoy todays post as well.  I made this little gift bag using the Birds of a Feather designer series paper. It is actually quite easy to do, especially if you have the Simply Scored tool.

I stamped a cute little 3x3 card that attached to the ribbon handle and finished the bag off with some stamped tissue paper. It really is a one of a kind gift bag that will certainly wow the recipient before they even peak inside to see the real gift.

Below you see the side view so you can get a better look at the overall bag.  Once you make one of these beauties you will want to make more for sure.

Steps To Make the Bag:
1. Score 2 separate pieces of matching designer series paper  at 3" on 3 sides. On the 4th side score at 2" (this is the top)
2. Fold over the 2" score line, use snail adhesive to keep it in place.
3. On the bottom of each piece cut up on each score line (right and left) to the horizontal score line.
4. Using sticky strip, assemble bag by attaching the two sides first, then fold in the sides of the bottom and then one side and attach the final side with sticky strip.
5. Punch holes on each side to thread ribbon through to make a handle.

Stamping Supplies:
Stamps: Flock Together
Ink: Basic Black
Papers: Birds of a Feather Designer Series Paper, Raspberry Ripple, Whisper White & Midnight Muse Cardstock
Accessories: Sticky Strip, Simply Scored Tool, Summer Starfruit 3/8" stitched satin ribbon, raspberry ribble 3/8" stitched satin ribbon

Thanks for coming again today. Come tomorrow for the last card from the Birds of a Feather product suite. Monday we will start another series.

My Favorite Holiday

Hello Stamping Friends,

Today at Sisters in Stamping we are sharing our favorite set from the Holiday Catalog. There so, so, so many to choose from making this a very difficult task indeed.  I really had a hard time with this one but alas I decided, snowmen are always my favorite. I "NEED" to have every (yes, every) snowman set that we have ever had.

So when I saw the Frosty Friends individual stamp in the Holiday catalog there was NO questions about it. It was on my very first order.  I mean really look how fun they are.

This is a card that I actually created for one of my swaps for convention too.  I cut, embossed with big shot and stamped everything at home and then the coloring and assembling happened on a plane on the way to Utah. Yep, all almost 100 of them were colored and put together on a little tray table on a plane. I do believe you can stamp everywhere.  Sure the two men next to me loved watching me. LOL

Don't forget to check out the Sisters in Stamping blog to see what the other sisters picked as their favorite from the Holiday catalog.
