Retiring, already???

Well, here we are at another Fabulous Friday posting. This week though is a bittersweet week, the sisters are focusing on Retiring Stamp Sets. Stamps that will only be available for a mere 6 more days. After Wednesday, June 30, 2010, you will not be able to order any of these sets again. Sooooo, if there is one or two or three or more sets you really have to have, you better get them now before it's too late.

I decided to use the set Enjoy Every Moment.  I received this set several years ago for FREE at Stampin' Up!'s annual demonstrator Convention.  I have used it many times before and thought I would give it one last hurrah.  I've used it on scrapbook pages as well as cards.  I love the simplicity of the set and the ease of creating quick cards with it.

This card is for all of you who support me every day, every month, and every year. Year after year. I shout out a big THANK YOU to each of you.  This is also one of the cards that we will be making tonight at my Annual Retirement Open House (5:30 PM - 8:00 PM).  This is a FREE event to all who would like to attend.  Come anytime between the above listed hours.

Back to the card. The following is a list of products I used to create this card.  Hope you enjoy every moment of every day, especially when you are creating.  Have a fabulous day and don't forget to check out the Sisters in Stamping blog to see what the other sisters are saying Goodbye to.

Stamps: Enjoy Every Moment
Classic Ink: Taken with Teal, Pink Passion, and Summer Sun
Cardstock: Whisper White, Taken with Teal, Pink Passion, and Summer Sun
Other: White Satin Ribbon, Paper Snips, Snail Adhesive, and (of course) dimensionals

Another Rag Bag

I promised you last week that I would show you the other ones I made and I didn't forget. This one is the first one I made. Don't look to close, you WILL find mistakes.  LOL  This one isn't as tall as the black and white one. I left one row off the top. It is of course made with my favorite things.....polka dots.  I was so excited when I went to buy fabric and found three different pink fabric with polka dots. It was destiny.

I also made a cute flower for it using the fancy flower die for the big shot.

This bag has a little strap to hold it "closed" I used a clear button for the strap to secure to. Isn't this bag awesome? I have another finished one that I will show you soon. I also cut fabric for two other bags. Let's see how long it takes me to put them together now. Hopefully it won't be over two months like the black and white one.

Colors, Colors, Colors......

There is color everywhere. Every corner we take there is color.  And Stampin' Up! products are no different. There is color all around us in every Stampin' Up! product.  Beginning July 1st, there will be 5 new core colors added to the Stampin' Up! color collections. They are Marina mist, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, and Cajun Craze.  The two cards below were created by my downline, Lucia Behler.  Stampin' Up! sent us a sheet of each of the new colors back in April and I challenged the girls in my downline to create something using the new colors. It was quite a challenge because they only had paper in the new colors and NO ink pads in those colors to help them out.  I think Lucia did a fabulous job on this challenge.

She creatively used punches and the Beautiful Butterflys embosslit to help her out. What's even better is that with the Butterfly embosslit she gets 5 different sized butterflies to use in different projects.  The above card uses one of the smaller sized butterflies and the card below used the biggest butterfly. Amazing how different each card looks too.

Remember there are only 9 days left to get any retiring colors, stamps, or accessories you may want.  And as I'm trying to finish out my year with a bang by earning the 2011 Incentive Trip, which is a cruise to Alaska, I'm offering you a great deal.  Place a $50 order (prior to shipping and tax) and you will receive 10% off your order, a hand-stamped card, and a special gift from me.  The special gift will be some great Stampin' Up! product.  All $50 order will also be eligible to enter my 50/50 board. The 50/50 board is for anyone who places a $50 order. When the board is filled (50 blocks) all names are entered into a drawing for a $50 Stampin' Up! gift certificate from me. This offer is only available through me, Rachel Yurkanin.

Going green.....

Welcome to another Fabulous Friday. This week the Sisters are focusing on Retiring Accessories. Many items on the list are going fast so you will want to order your favorites today. Check out the Last Chance Accessories HERE.  You'll also want to check out the Last Chance Stamp list HERE. Remember is less than 2 weeks left to get these items before they are gone forever.

I looked at the list to pick out products that I wanted to use. I set out to use the Flower Fusion flowers (I'm gonna miss these little beauties), Sticky Cut letters, and the Green Bead Duo.  So then I had to decide what I was going to make using these items. (I must admit, these three things are some of my most favorite and fun to use.)  So up to the stamp room I went and I found this little magnetic memo board waiting to be spruced up.

From plain and boring to bright and fun.  I used the sticky letters to spell out the word notes. I then carefully "dumped" the seed beads onto each letter. Shook off the excess and used the tiny, tiny green micro beads to fill in the open spots the seed beads didn't cover on the sticky letter.

Here's a close up of the letter "n" so you can see better what I'm talking about.

Then I covered the magnets with felt flower fusion flowers that are held together with an Earth Element Brad.  The flower is attached to the magnet using a pop up glue dot. Here's a close up of one of the finished flowers.

So in total I used 5 different retiring accessories on my memo board: flower fusion, earth element brads, pop-up glue dots, sticky cut letters, and green bead duo.  I hope you enjoy the project and it inspires you to make one of your own. Can never have enough organizational tools and places to put notes.

Don't forget to hop on over to Sisters in Stamping to see what accessories from the Last Chance List the other sisters have used.

Black or White?

I've finally got this bag made.  I got the material back in April when I met two demo friends in East Stroudsburg at the Pocono Sew & Vac store. Yes, I drove to East Stroudsburg (45 minutes away) to look at material while meeting a friend. My husband thought I lost my mind. LOL  I cut the material right away for the bag but that's as far as it got. Did that ever happen to you?  Anyway, this week I sat at the sewing machine and decided it was time to put it all together.  So what do you think?  Isn't it the cutest thing ever?

It's a rag bag made by cutting fabric and batting with the square scallop die and the big shot.  Who would have thought?  Remember you can cut 8 pieces of the material at one time so it's not a long, tedious chore of cutting your pattern out.  I love my Big Shot it makes life so much easier. You can make the bag as big or small as you'd like.  I have seen some that were only one square wide and deep.  Cute for a little girl.

On this bag, I sewed a pocket onto each side.  That way my keys, cell phone, or any other small item won't get lost at the bottom of the bag. Ever have that happen?

And here is the bag turned inside out with a cute fabric flower attached to the front. So depending on the look you want you can switch it around. How cool is that?

Above is a close up of the fabric flower. I used a basic gray cordouroy button for the center of the flower.  The flower is attached by pin so it's easy to take off and use as an accessory to an outfit.

For the handles, I couldn't find my spare material that matched the bag so I had to figure something else out. I went up to the stamp room and quickly decided the 1 1/4" black striped grosgrain ribbon would do the trick and finish it off nicely.  I must admit that I really like how the overall look turned out. I think I like the ribbon handles better than the material ones would have looked.  But guess what, I found the extra material just after I attached the handles. Isn't that Murphy's Law at it's best?

I have made some other bags that I will share with you soon, so keep watching. I think I'm off to cut some more material. I want to make a bag that is 2 squares deep instead of just one. Will show you when it's finished.

Wedding Bells in your future?

Today at Sisters in Stamping we are focusing on all those June Brides.  June is the the kick off month for the wedding season and we thought we would share a few ideas with you.

I used the Blissful Bride set that you can find in the Summer Mini Catalog.  This wasn't a difficult card to make but I think it turned out to be a very pretty card that I would love to give to a Special Bride and Groom.

I also used the finial press embossing folder for the background.  The little dots were painted with the Frost White Shimmer paint to add some more texture and add another dimension to the card.  I also painted the wedding dress with the frost white shimmer paint.  I used whisper white (but decided later that the shimmer white cardstock would have been very nice too) and brushed silver cardstock.

The black ribbon is a sneak peak of what's to come in the new catalog. As demonstrators we are able to preorder a few things and this was one of the things for this year's sneak peak.  Would you like to be able to participate in Sneak Peak Opportunities and Pre-orders?  Then join my team today by heading to my website.  It's only $99 until June 30, 2010 to join the Stampin' Up! family.

Now it's time to head over to the Sisters in Stamping blog for some more June Bride Ideas. Next week, the sisters will be focusing on retiring accessories. So be sure to come back and check that out.

What a short week this is. I'm a day behind in my thinking. I couldn't believe it was Friday already.  Not that I'm complaining that the weekend is here again. I'm thrilled that it is. Besides, it's one day closer to the end of the school year and a much needed break for all of us.

This week at Sisters in Stamping our challenge was a Masculine/Father's Day card. I'm sharing with you a card that I have showed at several workshops this past month.  I think it turned out great.  To be honest, much better than I had in my mind originally. Does that ever happen to you?  Anyway onto to what you really stop by here for, the stamped card.
