Happy Halloween Eve

Hello Stamping Friends,

Happy Halloween Eve. Just wanted to drop by with a quick post to share this adorable wreath with you. I made it using the Motley Monsters designer paper. It's so cute. I have a tutorial coming on how to make these wreaths so look for it in the next few days.

I'm having Jonah give it to his teacher tomorrow. I think it's great for a classroom. I know I would want one in my classroom if I had my own class. (Yes, I'm still dreaming. I know one day it will happen. Just need some patience and trust that it will happen all in God's timing.)

Just a close-up of the not so spooky ghosts that accent the wreath. Cute, right?

Thanks for stopping by.

Have a great time trick or treating tomorrow.

Good Spirits Only!

Hello Stamping Friends,

Hope this Friday finds you in good spirits and not haunting ones. We at the Yurkanin household have a busy soccer weekend ahead of us. Jonah is playing in a tournament so that means two games Saturday and two more on Sunday. I'm just hoping the weather isn't too chilly for me. I don't like being in the cold, but I guess I should be happy that there is no rain in the forecast like there was at last week's chilly game. See I turned my spirits around and made them not so negative.

This week at Sisters in Stamping we are sharing with you some Pinterest inspired projects. Okay, admit it, you are a Pinterest  hoarder. You spend hours and hours pinning projects, recipes, home dĂ©cor, fashion and so much more but how often do you go back and actually use those pins to help you create?  That's why I loved this challenge. I love going into my boards and seeing those pins all over again, but it's even better when I use one of the ideas to actually make something.

My card is above. I love the Holiday Home set. It's so versatile and full of so many fun stamps to decorate your houses with. This card is a fun Halloween card with a silhouette of a town behind the main house that is colored. I changed up my card from my pinspiration card by using some designer paper from the Black & White collection, punching my moon from cardstock and stamping the greeting on the moon. I also added a few more fun little ghosts because I could.

Here's the card I saw on pinterest. Can you see where my inspiration came from? My card is similar but I put my own twist on it. That's what's so great about pinterest. You can copy a project down to every detail or you can use a project as a starting point and switch some things up to make it your own. The choice is yours.

Don't forget to head on over to Sisters in Stamping to see more Pinterest inspired projects. You will be delighted you did.

Registration Deadline Extended for Holiday Home Class

Hello Stamping Friends,

I'm offering a last chance registration for my Holiday Home Stamp of the Month class this Thursday evening. You will be making 3 cards for different occasions, a canvas bag filled with 6 Christmas tags ready for your gift giving this upcoming Christmas season.

Here's a sneak peak at what you will be making at the class. I know, I don't normally offer sneak peaks but these are so adorable, I just can't resist.

The class is Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 6:30 pm. Cost of the class is $25 for just the stamp set and $40 for the bundle (includes the stamp set and the coordinating framelits).

You must register by MONDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2014. Deadline was extended so if you missed the deadline you are in luck because you still have time.

The picture really doesn't do the projects justice. They are great in person.

Once you have the set, you will find many great samples and ideas on Pinterest. I have a board dedicated just to Holiday Home so search for me on Pinterest to see more ideas using this great set.

Call or email to register for the class.

A Little Bit of Magic

Hello Stamping Friends,

It's Friday!!!! Yippee! Hooray! And any other excitement word you may want to add. I have subbed everyday this week so I am excited that tomorrow is Saturday and I get to sleep in, not make all the lunches and head out early in the morning. Now that, my friends, is something to be excited about. Now don't get too excited, Jonah has a soccer game, I have a workshop and we need to work on Noah's college applications, so it's not a FREE day by any stretch of the imagination. However, it is the little things that I'm excited about.

With it being Friday, that means we have a Fabulous Friday going on over at Sisters in Stamping. This week we are sharing techniques with you. There are so many great and wonderful techniques in the stamping world. I decided on a technique that has been around for awhile but I haven't used it in a long time.....emboss resist. It's like a little big of magic in your stamping.

That's right, magic. You first stamp your image with versamark ink, next you put (or I like to say, "Carefully dump") your embossing powder over the ink, then you heat set until the powder becomes raised and shiny. Finally, using a stampin' sponge you rub ink all over and around the image. The embossed image will resist the ink, the ink will stay on the cardstock and make the embossed image really pop. So for this card the Merry was stamped on whisper white cardstock, heat embossed with iridescent ice embossing powder, heat set, and then lost lagoon ink was rubbed over the image.

Pretty cool, right? This technique never gets old. There's excitement every time you do it. Honestly, if you have never done this you need to try it. If it's been a long time since you have done it, you need to do it again. You will love it.

Here's a close up of the Merry. I think this is a pretty easy technique with fool proof results every time. Imagine making it into a tie-dye look. Now that would be pretty cool. Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more techniques.
