Christmas in July

Hello stamping friends,

Today is Friday, again. Don't you just love Friday? There's something magical about it. Plus that means another challenge with the Sisters in Stamping. And today's challenge is a good one for you. You get to get a sneak peak at some Holiday Catalog product.

I used the Winter Frost (and yes, it's as awesome as it sounds) Specialty Designer Series Paper as my starting point for this card. And if I don't say so myself, I think the card turned out pretty awesome. You can feel the frosty air by looking at this beauty.

Isn't it a pretty card?  The background behind the snowflake and greeting banner is the designer series paper cut into 5x 1 1/2" strips and then cut diagonally from top left to bottom right (or vice versa, it's up to you) and placed side by side with all the points meeting underneath the snowflake.

Here's a close-up of this card, so you can see that I glittered the snowflake and added a basic rhinestone to the middle. Definitely adds so much to the overall look.  Notice the greeting only says "JOY," well I only inked up that part of the stamp. The complete stamp actually says Joy to the World.

Of course, the snowflake and the greeting are attached to the card front using dimensionals. You know how I just can't help myself when it comes to those things. I simply love them! And that's no joke.

Don't forget to head over to the Sisters in Stamping blog to see more great ideas using the awesome products and stamps from the Holiday Catalog.  Did you get your copy already?  There have been sent out so if you haven't received one and would like your own copy, please send me an email and I will get it out to you right away.

What's in a Cover?

Hello Stamping Friends,

Have you ever wondered about the catalog cover and how it's created? I bet some will say no because they are too eager to jump right in and see what's beyond the cover. Well, now that I piqued your interest I'll share some inside scoop that Stampin' Up! shared over on their blog. So read on for some behind the scenes info.

Fun “behind the scene’s” on the Stampin’ Up website! If you have a catalog, you know what I’m talking about!

WHO IS SHE?????

Creating a Catalog Cover!

Many people are involved in creating our annual catalog cover–project managers, people from marketing, designers, concept artists, and more. I wish I had a photograph of all of these people in these shots, but I don’t. What I do have are a few shots with the photographer (me) and our model, Tiffany.

Based on some of your comments, most people seem to assume that we hire professional models in our shoots. But the model that we used in this photograph is actually one of our talented product designers named Tiffany B.

Because Tiffany has such a fun and energetic personality, she gets photographed quite a bit in our publications. As a photographer I felt like the best way to celebrate finishing this project was a behind-the-scene shot with the model and photographer. Doesn't it look like it would be fun to work back at Stampin' Up!'s home office?

If you’d like a copy of your own catalog, please let me know! I’d love to send you one! It’s only $5 (for shipping) and you get a $5 off coupon on your next order!

My Paper Pumpkin - On Special Just for You

Hello Stamping Friends,

Hope you had a glorious day.  Still have my kitchen as a work in progress but by the end of the week I should have at least some bottom cabinets  in (because the countertop  contractor is coming Friday) so it is a pretty good day for me.  I'm not letting the few little things we found (aka more pipes in the way) bring me down. Afterall, they were fixed pretty easily unlike the other ones that needed to be moved.

Anyway, I just wanted to drop in quickly to let you know about a great special on My Paper Pumpkin. The craft kit that comes to your door every month.

Have you tried Paper Pumpkin yet? I think you will LOVE it because it is so fast and easy to create these projects!
These sweet little kits have all the work done for you, all you have to do is stamp and assemble!

Simply Im"pressed"

Hello Stamping Friends,

That's simply im"pressed" clay. An awesome new product. That's what we are focused on this week with Sisters in Stamping.  I love, love, love the new clay.

Here's a few reasons why:

1. It's easy.
2. It's very light on your finished project
3. You can have as many as you want in whatever color you want.
4. You can make over 180 different pieces from just one package of clay.

Pretty good reasons, right?  On this card, I made the small flower clay pieces into the center of the larger flowers and then just added some "buds" over the stamped flowers from Wildflower Meadow.  I colored them after they were molded and dried using Stampin' Write Markers. They are attached to the front of the card using some Tombo Multi-purpose adhesive.

I purposely left some white spots on the yellow flowers to add some fun looking texture. The pink flowers are colored completely with the marker. Remember, you can color them a variety of different ways: markers, re-inkers, and stamp pads. You can even put some crystal effects over them to make them glossy and add some dazzling diamonds to the wet crystal effects to add some bling that won't fall off.

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more great ideas using the Simply Pressed Clay.

I Love My Big Shot!

Hello Stamping Friends,

I really do love my big shot. I use it on just about every project I make. I mean really, it's magical. It takes a nice card and turns it into a magnificent card with a couple of turns of the handle. What's not to love about that?

Today at Sisters in Stamping we are focusing on the new dies and folders in the 2013-2014 catalog. There are a lot of new things that will only enhance your creative abilities.

This card is all about the hexagons.  I embossed the vanilla piece of cardstock with the hexagon folder and then embossed a second piece of vanilla, also with the hexagon folder and then I cut the inside of several hexagons out of the second piece so I could emboss them with the perfect polka dot folder (wanted to carry through the polka dot theme).

For the little butterfly, I stamped the polka dot hexagon from Six-Sided Sampler and then used the bitty butterfly punch so my butterfly matched the "flower" that I made using all hexagons.

Don't forget to head over to the Sisters in Stamping blog for more ideas using new big shot items.

Stamping Supplies Used:
Stamps: Six-Sided Sampler
Ink: Black Staz-on
Paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Black Cardstock & Modern Medley Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Paper Snips, Big Shot, Hexagon Embossing Folder, Hexagon Punch, Itty Bitty Butterfly Punch, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals, & Snail Adhesive

Wonderful New In-Color

Hello Stamping Friends,

Uh oh, really quick post today. I forgot it was Friday. The holiday yesterday threw me off. I'll blame the blonde hair and Polish genes. lol Have no fear, it's still Friday so I believe it will still count.  Better late than never, right?

So anyway, here it is, Fabulous Friday with the Sisters in Stamping. This week's challenge was to use all the new in-colors on a card. What could be better than a card using Crisp Cantaloupe, Baked Brown Sugar, Strawberry Slush, Pistachio Pudding, and Coastal Cabana. They just sound wonderful.

This is a little variation of a card that I received in a swap and used for last month's stamp a stash. Some of the ladies attending stamp a stash requested the card because they liked it so much.  I used the in-color markers to color the stamp from Chalk Talk with four of the in-colors. I then cut the image out and cut it apart so it looked more like an exclamation point.

Stamping Supplies Used:
Stamps: Chalk Talk
Ink: In-Color Stampin' Write Markers
Paper: Sahara Sand, Baked Brown Sugar, & Whisper White Cardstock, and In-Color Designer Series Paper Stack
Accessories: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Dimensionals, Paper Snips and Snail Adhesive.

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more ideas using these great new in-colors.
