Stampin Dreams Blog Hop

Hello Stamping Friends,

Time for another great blog hop. Today's hop is all about mothers. That can mean anything you want. Many may first think that means a Mother's Day card since that is just around the corner, however, I see it a different way.

I'm sharing a card that makes me think of my mom and my childhood. If you are new here, let me give you some background. I lost my mom my senior year in college very unexpectedly to a massive heart attack, so making Mother's Day cards for me is difficult and not my favorite thing to do. It just makes me sad because I can not give her a beautiful hand-stamped Mother's Day card. Instead, I like to make cards that make me think happy thoughts of her.

This bright and cheery card definitely reminds me of my mom and my childhood. My mom tried really hard to find a name for me that couldn't be shortened because she greatly disliked that. She felt my name should be my name and nothing else. Her and my dad decided on Rachel. She thought how can anyone shorten that? Well, my mom's family is notorious for shortening names and they found a way...... Rae. My mom said she was okay with it because I was her "ray of sunshine" and she would sing "You are my Sunshine" to me because of it.

So after all these years, I still think of her and smile that I was her "ray of sunshine."
Do you know see why this is the perfect card for me to share in regards to mothers?

Now a little about the card.  It is a super easy card to make. Not one stamp was harmed, I mean, used in the making of this card. I used the Flowers for Every Season Memories and More card pack and some bumble bee cardstock. That's about all. How awesome is that? A card in mere seconds. Seriously, it wasn't even minutes to make.  The card packs are great for making beautiful, quick cards when time eludes you.

I used a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock scored at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2" for the base of my card. I then cut down the border/frame card for the inside to 4" x 5 1/4". I used a small circle punch to punch half of a circle in the first 2 3/4" piece on the base and then used some adhesive to make a pocket that is perfect for a gift card or a little cash. I then used one of the 3" x 4" cards for the front (You are my sunshine) and layered that on a 3 1/4" by 4 1/4" piece of bumble bee cardstock. Before attaching to the base I added a piece of white cardstock (2 1/2" x 4") on the front fold and wrapped a piece of bumble bee ribbon around the sentiment piece.

See how easy this is? Now go grab a pack of memories and more cards and make a bunch of quick and easy, beautiful cards that will be ready at a moment's notice. Don't forget to keep hopping for more great cards for mothers.
