Friendship is the Spice of Life

Hello Stamping Friends,

It's Friday again. How does the time go so fast? I just don't understand it. I need time to slow down just a bit, especially because it's summer and I DO NOT want it to end any time soon. I do know that it will be over before we know it and before any of us want it to be, so with that in mind, I'm going to enjoy each and every moment that I can. I hope you do the same.

This week at Sisters in Stamping we are sharing projects that have a friendship theme. I have so many great people in my life that I call my friends. I thank God for each of them and the special part they each play in my life.

For my project, I created a potpourri sachet using one of Stampin' Up!'s envelopes. You know the potpourri envelopes you can find in stores that are relatively inexpensive? Yep, you take those and pretty up your own envelope to transfer the awesome smelly stuff into. These make great little gifts to give to friends, co-workers, neighbors to just let them know you are thinking about them. They aren't very difficult to make either.

For this card, I stamped the envelope with the background stamp, Writing Notes. I then stamped the friendship saying in between the lines and loved, loved how it looked like it was written on lined paper. I then just made a belly band to go around the envelope using the Fruit stand paper and embellished the front with the boot and gloves from the Gift from the Garden stamp set.

You can make a bunch of these to keep on hand or make them special at Christmas time using your favorite holiday scent of potpourri.

Don't forget to head over to the Sisters in Stamping blog to see more great friendship projects.

Quick & Easy Color Combo

Hello Stamping Friends,

Today is a quick card that focuses on a color combination. Yep, over at Sisters in Stamping that's what we decided to do for today. I hope you like what I have created. It was super quick and easy to do since I was leaving on Wednesday for a few days of stamping and glamping with a great group of demo friends that I would normally room with at convention each July. Since convention is no longer in July, we all decided we still needed our "fix" of each other so we headed up to Maine to "camp." If you know me at all, that was no easy feat. I'm not the nature loving girl you would expect to find camping, but for friends I sucked it up. I'll share more with you later on the trip.

This week's challenge was to use the colors watermelon wonder, flirty flamingo and night of navy. I picked the awesome two step stamping set, Watercolor Wings to make this card.

I decided to use a paint chip background look for the base of my card using the colors from this week's challenge. A couple of layers of butterfly pieces and a greeting and I was finished. So, see, stamping can be quick, easy and not use a ton of supplies. (Especially, when you remember that you need a card a few minutes before walking out the door. I know that's happened to you, too.)

Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to check out the Sisters in Stamping blog for more ideas using this color combination.

You Scream, I Scream, We all Scream for Ice Cream

Hello Stamping Friends,

Happy Friday to you. It's a gorgeous day here in NEPA, sun is shining, it's warm, windows are open and the birds are chirping. It also means it Fabulous Friday with the Sisters in Stamping. I love this week's theme: You Scream, I Scream, We all Scream for Ice Cream. Isn't it great?  Perfect for summer because who doesn't love going for some ice cream? The real question is do you call the things that go on ice cream, jimmies or sprinkles? We call them sprinkles here.

And they must be sprinkles because the stamp set I used is called Sprinkles of Life. See, told you. LOL  It's a fun set that you can make cupcakes, ice cream cones, clouds, trees and so much more with. The best part is that it also has a coordinating punch that will make your life even easier when using it to create great cards and projects. Do you have it yet? If not, what are you waiting for?

This is a pretty easy card to make. A couple layers of cardstock, one ink pad, a punch, some scraps of cardstock, and two stamp sets.

I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set behind my cone to look like splatters of ice cream that dripped off the cone.

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more great ideas for ice cream.

Summertime, Summertime, Sum, Sum, Summertime!

Hello Stamping Friends,

Are you loving the summer weather. Here in NEPA, we have been having some hot, humid days. I'm not complaining either. It's great not having to be cold, so I am clearly enjoying every minute of it knowing that it will be gone before you know it. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy all 4 seasons, I'm just wishing winter here wasn't as long as it is.

Being that we are in the throws of summer, today's theme over at Sisters in Stamping is all about summer. I'm sharing with you a cute gift that I made for a class one of my groups held a few weeks ago. Nothing says summer like a cold glass of lemonade. I found these adorable jar/cups with straws in the lid at one of the big box stores and knew I wanted to make a fun gift. I decided the individual packets of lemonade were the perfect filler for this gift.

Cute, right? I love how this turned out. The tag is the perfect accent to write a small message in to let the recipient know your thoughts or reason for the gift. The fun aspect to the tag is that the jar opens so you can write the message inside the jar instead of just inside a regular tag.

Here's a close-up of the jar on the tag. I brayered the lemonade in the jar using the new sponge brayers and the daffodil delight stamp pad. I stamped the jar and the greeting with the archival basic black stamp pad. To get the ribbon around the jar don't forget to open the jar first (trust me on this one, I don't think I need to further explain why I know this, lol) I put a little bit of adhesive on the backside to keep the ribbon held in place. The cute little straw is the stem from the stamp set. I stamped it inside the jar of lemonade and then on a scrap of paper so I could have it coming out of the top of the jar. It's actually attached to the back side under the ribbon.

So, you want to know how I cut the jar to get it to open like this? Well, it is actually pretty easy to do. Cut your cardstock double the width you need. Stamp your image very close to the fold. Place your framelit over the stamped image on the magnetic plate. Here' the trick, when you put your clear plate over the framelit, DON'T put it over the edge of the framelit that is near the fold. If the framelit is NOT covered with the plate it will not cut the entire image out which will leave you with a jar tag that will open. Of course, you can do this with any framelit you want. Pretty neat, don't you think?

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping to see the great projects everyone else made for Summer. A great variety this week.
