Let's Hear it for the Red, White & Blue

Hello Stamping Friends,

Happy Friday! Happy end of June! Happy beginning of 4th of July Festivities!  A whole lot of happy going on here. Since it's Friday, that also means it's time for a post with the Sisters in Stamping. This week we are focusing on the Red, White & Blue. Pretty appropriate for the time of year.

For my card, I decided not to use any stamps. I know a lot of people don't necessarily have patriotic stamps on hand to make a card, so I wanted to show you you can still make one without using any stamps.  I used Night of Navy, Whisper White, & Cherry Cobbler Cardstock. I cut the stripes from cherry cobbler to be 1/2" wide and placed them on a sheet of white cardstock that is 4"x 5"1/4". I then used one of the heart framelits to cut a heart out and the star came from the popcorn die thinlits. The heart is attached to the card using dimensionals.

To finish the card off, I used a basic black marker to add some doodle designs. I'm really happy with the finished look. It turned out just like what I had envisioned in my head. (We all know that doesn't always work out, lol)

Don't forget the awesome promotion for first time Paper Pumpkin subscribers that is only valid until midnight tonight (June 30). Time to Party with Some Balloons

Hello Stamping Friends,

Welcome to another Fabulous Friday with the Sisters in Stamping. This week we are sharing cards with balloons. After all, what's a party (specifically a birthday party) without balloons? Balloons are so cheerful, fun and festive. And of course, Stampin' Up! has plenty of balloons for you to choose from to make some awesome projects.

I used the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set and the Happy Birthday thinlits die to make this card. And by no surprise at all I used the awesome new color:  Lemon Lime Twist. It's my all time favorite. I mean I do have a car in this exact color scheme and I absolutely love my car. It's so fun. (except there's no hiding, everyone knows it's us because there aren't too many of them around the area.

Anyway, back to the card. Notice the background on the card is a bunch of different festive, birthday type greetings. They are all found in the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set. I DID NOT randomly stamp them all over the white cardstock. I used a large clear block and arranged each individual saying on the block to make my own background type stamp. Then I just stamped it twice on the cardstock. Way better than stamping each one individually. Try it out, you'll like the ease of stamping like this.

Once I stamped the "background" I stamped the flower stamp randomly all over in black.

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping to see more party balloon ideas.

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!

Let's Hear it For the Guys Blog Hop

 Hello Stamping Friends,

A month has already passed since the last Stamper's Dozen blog hop, I can hardly believe it. This month we are focusing on the guys in our lives. Whether it's Father's Day (coming up on Sunday), a graduate or even your favorite guy's birthday, you're sure to love this month's ideas.

You would think being that I have a husband, two sons, grandson, brother, and lots of brother-in-laws that I would be full of the guy ideas, but I must be honest with you, I AM NOT. I struggle with guy cards I think because I just like the frilly girly stuff so much. So when there is a guy challenge I embrace it, accept the challenge and am usually quite pleased with the end result.

This card was no different. There's no bling, no frills, not even a ton of layers (which I also really like) but I must say, I am quite pleased with the end result.  First I stamped the truck in basic black on watercolor paper, then I did a clear water wash around the truck to have the ink (from reinkers) "float" around the paper to make the sky and ground. Then I watercolored the truck using an aquapainter and reinkers. If you want you can easily change out the Happy Father's Day greeting and switch it to suit any need you may have. The greeting is stamped in whisper white craft ink on basic black cardstock.

To finish it off, I just used a basic black marker to add some darker detail to a few spots on the truck. Hope you are inspired. If you want to learn how to make this card or even watercolor contact me to schedule your own private class. I'd love to show you and your friends how easy it is.

Next up, we have Bonnie's great project. Click on the Next blog button below to go to her blog.

If you're just starting here at my blog, you missed out on Judy's, so click the previous blog to see that.
