The Leaves are Falling (well, not yet)

Hello Stamping Friends,

Hope this sunshine day is bringing you happiness. I'm soaking up every once of it up that I can since before you know it the big "W" word will be here and we will be trapped in gray clouds for months.

Today I'm participating in a Fall Fun blog hop with my upline, Susan. So be sure to head on over to her blog when you are finished here to see what neat fall project she created. Isn't it always fun to see new ideas and more of them? That's what this blog hop is for.

I used the Bundle and Save, Among the Branches and Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from the Holiday catalog to create my card. I love the embossing folder because it is versatile and not just for the fall season. I made a card for Winter with it that I will share with you another day, I promise.

I really like how this card turned out and it wasn't too complicated to make either, which is my favorite thing. I love creating but I want quick results. I guess you can call that a lack of patience. Oh well, at least I know my limitations, right?

Remember, head over to Susan's blog for more Fall Fun inspiration. Thanks for stopping by today.

A Very Special Birthday

Hello Stamping Friends,

It's Friday, it's 9/11, but it's also a very special persons bithday, my dad. It's difficult having a birthday on 9/11 since 2001 but we make sure to celebrate my dad as much as we can on this day without forgetting the events of that tragic day in American history.

This card also covers the theme of this week's Sister in Stamping challenge, a birthday card. I love this stamp. It covers each and every guy in your life, from young to old. They have all played with the little army guys with the plastic parachutes at some time in their life. The "old" guys would love the nostalgia this card brings to them and the "young" guys would find joy in knowing they have played with these too.

Pairing a couple of greens together makes this card come together quickly and rather nicely, if I do say so myself. (LOL) Check out the list of supplies below.

Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more birthday card ideas.

Have you ever tried this?

Hello Stamping Friends,

How are you on this fine Friday? I'm a pretty happy mom because Noah is coming home for the weekend. It's only been a week with him at college but I really miss him. Anyway, this week at Sisters in Stamping we are sharing projects with different technique with all of you. You're going to love seeing an old technique used again or a new technique, so be sure to check them out.

I am not sure of a specific name for my technique so I'm calling it, inked texturing. I wanted to achieve the look of an old brick wall that has graffiti on it for this card, so I began with my brick wall embossing folder (obviously, you all love it because it has been very popular causing a bit of a backorder with it).

I inked up the embossing folder by tapping the ink pad all over the one side of the folder. Be sure to ink the side that has the Stampin' Up!/Sissix logo on it. After it's all good and inked up you run it through the Big Shot like you normally would to add texture to the cardstock. When you take it out you have this great looking aged brick wall. Each time you do it, it will look a little different (I guess that's like most things we stampers make, right?)

Then I just added some birthday greetings and happy stars and "arrows" for my graffiti. It's so fun to make this and the better thing is that it's so easy too.  Go ahead, try it, you're going to love this technique. It gives you more use of those embossing folders.

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more great technique ideas.
