Say Cheese

Hello Stamping Friends,

It's FRIDAY! Woohoo. Now that I've been working so much at the school, I really look forward to Friday's, more than ever to be honest. I love being at the school and teaching but I really enjoy the downtime of the weekends, even if we are busy with family things or I'm doing workshops, classes or  other events. What do you have planned for this weekend? Does it involve taking pictures?  This card for the Sisters in Stamping Fabulous Friday posting may be just the thing for you then.

This week was a big week at Stampin' Up! The retirement list made it's debut, so that's the challenge we went with. Use something from the retirement list. Everyone is always excited yet sad when the list comes out. Excited knowing that there are many great new things on the way when the new catalog comes out on June 2 and sad because sometimes some of our favorite things are going away.

This card uses more than just a retiring stamp on it. The designer series paper is retiring, the on film framelits are also on the retirement list. SO, if these are things you want, you should order as soon as possible. All accessories are on a limited basis right now and once the supply is depleted, it's gone for good.

This card looks like it's difficult but in reality it really is pretty simple. It's just that there are a lot of layers and dimension going on. I die cut the film strip and the Polaroid frame using the on film framelits. Pretty fun framelits for so many occasions if you ask me.  I colored the camera in with markers and cut it out. It is attached to the card using dimensionals.

I purposely left off a greeting so the card can be used for any occasion, bu you can easily stamp a greeting on the bottom of the Polaroid frame. Fun card, isn't it?

Head over to the Sisters in Stamping blog for more samples using retiring stamps.

My Hostesses Are Special

Hello Stamping Friends,

I hope you know that my hostesses are special already, but in case you don't, I'll say it again. My hostesses are special!!!!!!  Honestly, without my great hostesses I wouldn't be able to share my passion with all of you and get to keep creating fun projects to share with you either.

Stampin' Up! thinks hostesses are pretty special as well. They have a special program for hostesses to get FREE product. Do you love FREE?  I think we all do. So today at Sisters in Stamping we are sharing our great hostess sets with you with some awesome projects. Don't forget, with your hostess dollars you can select hostess exclusive sets that no one else can buy. I must say there are always several hostess sets that I 'need' to have right away every year when they are released. This year was no different. I had to have the Nuts About You set. It's so adorable (IMHO).

I mean, really, check out this card. Isn't is just the sweetest thing? At this time of year, this card screaming Spring brings me much happiness after the long, long cold, snowy winter we had here in Northeast Pennsylvania.

There's a lot of texture going on in this card. First the background is embossed to make it look like the trunk of the tree. Then I added a layer of whisper white to contrast before I laid the layered stamped tree on circles that I cut using the circle thinlits and the big shot. Of course, the little bird and squirrel are cut out and put on dimensionals for even more depth. Then I added the pool party punched piece coming out of the back of the stamped tree. And it was finished off with a small piece of designer paper for the "ground."

Fun card, right? Remember you can earn your own Nuts About You set or any other hostess exclusive set when you host your own party. Don't wait though, these sets will be gone forever come June 2 when the new book makes it's grand debut with awesome new hostess sets.  I have several dates for May still available, so pick one of the following and we can start planning your fun crafting party.

May 1, 2015                                  May 8, 2015

May 15, 2015                               May 21, 2015

Did Someone Say Pic a Nic Basket?

Hello Stamping Friends,

That's right a little Yogi Bear coming out today. And yes, I said I made a pic a nic basket. You will love it, I promise.

Today's posting from the Sisters in Stamping is all about 3D projects. It's always fun to create a paper craft gift or container that you can give to a friend or use as a party favor. Be sure to check out the blog for more 3D projects, you will love them.

I am sharing with you a picnic basket made using the berry basket die that you can find in the Occasions Catalog. I'll share a few more projects with you over the next few days that also use the berry basket die. I think you will love the versatility of this die after you see what you can make with it.

Isn't is the cutest thing ever. Perfect compliment to any barbecue you will be hosting this summer. Cute to hold some treats for the guests to take home or just put a few out with some goodies for the guests to enjoy while at your barbecue.  I added the handle and the lid to the already adorable berry basket to make this picnic basket.

I attached the lid using the modern label punch and some brads. Now thinking about it, I would change the hinges to early espresso so it would look more like leather. Wouldn't that look even better? For the lid I just measured the opening on the top of the basket and cut a square that size. I then stamped it and folded it in half to make the lid look like that. I thought it looked too dull being a flat lid.

Here it is opened. Isn't the red polka dotted liner the icing on the cake?  I love how it looks all finished and put together. I know if I went to a party and got to take one of these beauties home with me at the end, it would be the best thing ever. So, who's having the party, making these as party favors and of course, inviting me?

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more great 3D project ideas.

Thanks for stopping by today and don't forget to check in over the next few days for more berry basket ideas.
