One more Reason to Smile

Hello Stamping Friends,

I know I didn't get back to you this week with my samples from convention. I have been busy with something that I don't want to let out of the bag just yet as a just in case. But trust me it's kind of exciting and nerve-wracking all at the same time. I'll share more next week as I know more.  With that said, I promise I will begin the parade of convention samples tomorrow. It will last for awhile, I had 24 samples to make afterall.

So, now onto today's card. This week at Sisters in Stamping we are focusing on the great stamp set that you can get for a mere 5 bucks until Tuesday with a $50 order.  The set is called Reason to Smile. And looking at this card, it really does give me a Reason to Smile. It's so cheerful and light, it just makes me happy.

This is one of the cards attendees of my Stamp a Stack (last night) made. It's such an easy card to make too. Just stack all three of the white layers together and stamp away.  Don't worry if you get some spots that don't stamp perfectly from one edge of one paper to the edge of the other paper because the celery layer between each white layer with cover that right up.  I love that it has lots of layers but it's really easy to accomplish in a very short amount of time.  I received a card at convention using the great new beach theme set that was done like this and I  couldn't wait to come home and try it. So I figured this set would be perfect for it. I loved the outcome so much I deemed it worthy of a Stamp a Stack option.

Remember this special is only available until Tuesday, July 31 so get your orders in now to get this sweet deal.

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping to see the other creations using the Reason to Smile set.

Stamping Supplies:
Stamps: Reason to Smile & Perfectly Penned
Ink: So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Certainly Celery, & Night of Navy
Cardstock: Whisper White & Certainly Celery
Other: Snail Adhesive

Thanks for stopping by. Come back tomorrow for convention samples.

Post Convention Update

Well I'm back from convention (and now well rested).  I had a fabulous time this week seeing "old" friends from across the US and Canada and making new friends.  I learned some great new ideas and projects that I can't wait to try out for myself and share with all of you.  I won some prizes and got lots of free stamps.  This post is going to be full of pictures from throughout the week. Just a small glimpse into Stampin' Up! convention 2012.

The above video was how we opened the first general session at convention.  It is the theme song for this year's convention and many of the employees at the home office were lip dubbing.

Shelli on stage during the Open General Session.  I am was the theme for this year's convention.

This is all the loot we received while at convetion.  Yes, I got 8 new stamp sets, one pkg of Designer Series Paper, make n takes, a fan, a couple of new accessories from the Holiday catalog and the awesome convetion bag. It's the yellow chevron pattern you see.

This was the exclusive Convention set, I am.  If we attended six classes and wrote the secret word we were able to go get this set during lunch on the final day.

This is a peek into momento mall.  Besides being full of great logo merchandise there are even some stamping displays that you never want to miss.

This is a look at the Gathering Place. It's a huge room where there are tons of displays, new product stations to learn the tips and tricks of new products, and lots of tables to sit down and relax.

This is Scott Neilson, the CFO at Stampin' Up!  This was on Awards night where he revealed that our next Manager's reception in Jnauary will be held at the Wizardly World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios in Orlando.  I can't wait.  I went to the Manger's reception there in the hero's section (not sure of the exact name) a few years ago and had a blast.

Another peek at Momento Mall.  This shows 2 of the shirts that were available to purchase as well as 2 of the reusable shopping bags.

Here I am getting ready to walk the stage for my achievement of $20K in sales for this year. Thank you to all of you who continue to support me and my Stampin' Up! business. I truly appreciate it.  I also walked for earning the Hilton Head Incentive trip in September (yes, Don and I get an FREE trip to Hilton Head) and I walked for my career sales of $300K.  None of which would be possible without you, my loyal supporters.

And here is a group shot on Awards night of all my roomies and Shelli.  Yes, we had nine all together. We were in a 3 room suite with a kitchen, so it really wasn't bad at all. We all had our own space and were not overcrowded in anyway.  And to think on Tuesday when I joined them I only knew one of them, but by Sunday when I left I had 7 new demonstrator friends that I can't wait to see again soon.

Two of Stampin' Up!'s training facilitators, Shannon West and Brian Pilliing.  I love Shannon, she is so sweet and always fun to watch on stage while stamping.  I don't know Brian very well but I have always enjoyed his presentations.  Here, Shannon was getting ready to do a stamping presentation on Halloween and Fall projects (no she doens't always dress like this) and Brian was her helper to pass out some treats to the audience (he doesn't normally dress that way either).

Here is Bonnie Thurbur and Holly Linford. Also from the home office.  Bonnie is a sweetheart and very funny.  I met her on my way to Universal Studios for the Manager's Reception several years ago. She and Sheryl Shields (another home office employee) befriended me and insisted I hang out with them for the evening because I was by myself.  I'm so honored to be able to call her a friend.  I look forward to seeing both of them at each SU event.  Holly was doing a presentation on MDS2 (a new program coming out on August 1st) and she asked Bonnie to sing a duet with her prior to her presentation. They did a phenomenal job and Holly rocks with MDS.

Here Shelli and Sara (her daughter) talk with Richtar.  Rich is really our President.  This portion was streamed live for demonstrators all over the world. Richtar announced that our next Grand Vacation was a cruise to the Western Carribean.

Here is Shelli with Jason Dorsey, our guest speaker. He talked about Generation Y and how we (Generation x and Baby Boomer's) can connect with Gen Y.  He was awesome. I think he was by far my most favorite guest speaker of all time.

And lastly, here is Scott Nielson talking with (I don't know who it is really) about our Getaway trip we can earn for next year.  The getaway trip is to San Diego. I can't wait to earn one of the two trips.  Better get back to work. Time will fly by.

Hope you enjoyed your glimpse into what my week was like. Tomorrow I will share some cards that I created for the display boards at convention.  I was honored to be asked to create for the boards.  Being that I did 24 projects, I will be sharing them throughout the week.  Don't want to over stimulate.  : )

Christmas in July

Hello Stamping Friends,

Still at Convention.  Having a fabulous time and have some great ideas and projects to share with all of you but just running out of time each day to update you all right now.  So please be patient and I will share a ton with you once I get home and get settled.

Today at Sisters in Stamping we are continuing our tour through the catalog.  This week's stop is the Seasonal Celebrations (aka holiday) section.  Never too early to start thinking of Christmas cards!  So sit back and enjoy all we have to offer this week.  Get those brain gears spinning and thinking of your own Christmas cards.

I made this card at a couple of workshops last week and everyone loved it. They were asking who was making this one so they didn't duplicate it.  It uses the Rejoicing with You set found on page 21 of the 2012-2013 Catalog.  It is such an easy set to use.  And it looks really great embossed (just my opinion, but I really think it does).  I used crumb cake cardstock for the base (I know it's a tad hard to tell in the photo) and then stamped the En Francais background stamp on a piece of Cherry Cobbler.

The banner piece is from the great new Specialty Designer Series Paper called Natural Composition. The picture here and the catalog don't let you really see how awesome this paper is.  The design on each piece is embossed. So many cook techniques you can accomplish with it.  I promise you will be seeing a lot more of this in the future.

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for even more great ideas using the Seasonal Celebrations section of the catalog.

Stamping Supplies Used:
Stamps: Rejoicing with You, En Francais
Ink: Cherry Cobbler and Versamark
Paper: Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler Cardstock, Natural Compositon Designer Series Paper
Other: Heat Gun, Clear Embossing Powder, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding, Snail Adhesiver & Dimensionals

Greetings from Convention

Hello stamping friends,

I'm here in Utah for Stampin' Up!'s annual convention. Today was check in day. We got our new bags, shopped at momento mall, stood in line for awards, participated in a great shoebox swap, ate dinner with great friends and just chilled in anticipation for tomorrow's big day.  I hope to share more with you while I'm here but if not I'll have lots to share once I get home.

Today's card is the card I created for the shoebox swap.  Isn't it cute?  It uses the new Ronald McDonald set, Moving Forward.  This will be one of the cards you make at the Moving Forward class in early September (watch for specifics).

I used pool party and island indigo for this card. I love how these two colors look together.  Gotta love the pop of green (lucky limeade) with the frog jumping out of the bike's basket.  It really is an quick card to put together that packs a lot of wow. Don't you think?

Below are a few pictures here at convention. Momento mall offers exclusive Stampin' Up! logo merchandise that you can NOT get anywhere else. And then the gathering place, full of inspiration.  Doesn't it make you want to be a demonstrator so you can come next year?

This photo shows the 2 women's shirts available to purchase as well as two of the 4 different reusable shopping bags available.

This is the huge gathering place with tons of awesome displays to inspire any stamper.

And another picture from momento mall. This is an awesome card tree (or I think it would make a great photo tree for my family room).  There is even creative inspiration all over momento mall.  I love seeing the displays and how you can use Stampin' Up! product in different ways.

Come back soon to see more convention activity.

On the Road .....

......to happiness that is.  Today at Sisters in Stamping we are continuing our tour through this years catalog.  Our stop, is the Occasions section of the catalog (page 30 - page 57).  Doesn't matter what Occasion you have happening in your life, there is sure to be a stamp to help youout in this section. Birthday, Graduation, Sympathy, Wedding and then all the other ones that are great for any time. Plus all of the great sets that have a stamp for a variety of Occasions all in one place.

When I saw the catalog, I immediately fell in love with the Road to Happiness set and just couldn't wait to get my hands on it.  This is the first (of many) card that I made with it.  As a family, one of our favorite things to do is to pack up the car and head to the beach for the day. We aren't an amusement park kind of family but we sure LOVE the beach. We are fortunate enough to have one close enough to drive too (a bit over 2 hours) to head out often for day trips. We even stay over night on occasion which is even sweeter. So I needed to make a beach card.  I actually made it for my husband for father's day.  Of course, I needed to take it back to have it as a sample (but I promise I will keep it safe for him, lol).

This card uses four of the new 2013-2014 In Color's.  It's so fun and festive looking. I loved  using markers on the car so I could make it different colors.  I used three different markers to color it in before stamping. Then I stamped the beach supplies stamp in black and colored the items in with Stampin' Write Markers.  I can't wait to make more cards using this set, wedding, birthday, and just because cards. Of course, I'll be sure to share them with you.

Don't forget to head over to Sisters in Stamping for more cards using the awesome sets in the Occasions section of the catalog.

Time to Grow Up

Today at Sisters in Stamping we are continuing our tour through the sections of the catalog.  This week our stop is the Growing Up section. There are so many cute sets from baby to teen.  I decided to go with a little boy card today because I know that is what I am most often asked to make and I always find it a little challenging. Go figure, I have 2 boys myself but I find boy cards challenging.

I used the cute little set, I Dig You, which is great for little boys that are into the big Tonka type trucks. Oh heck, even for the little girls who like to play with them, too. I know growing up my sister loved to play with her Tonka trucks more than her dolls.

Isn't it a great "Dirt" day card? (Sorry, just couldn't resist the play on words from the set) I used four of the new 2012-2014 In Colors to create this card.  I also decided while making this card that I need to challenge myself to not use the big shot on a project. Gasp, I know!  It's really hard for me to not add some texture to everything I make now. Oh well, who wants plain cardstock when you can have nice textured cardstock? Not me, that's for sure!

I stamped the presents on a separate piece of cardstock and cut them out. They are attached to the top of the dump truck with a dimensional (like I needed to tell you that part). I really like the dimension on them and the fact that they are going "off" the top of the cardstock the truck is stamped on.

Don't forget to head on over to the Sisters in Stamping blog for even more great ideas using the stamps from the Growing Up section of the 2012-2013 catalog.

Stamping Supplies Used:

Stamps: I Dig You
Ink: Stampin' Write Markers (Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse & Gumball Green)
Cardstock: Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse, Gumball Green and Whisper White
Accessories: Big Shot, Emobossing Folders (Stripes, Chevron, Houndstooth and Argyle), Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to come back and see what else I have in store for you.
